I think this is exactly the kind of thing Nintendo needs to have been doing over the past year. Using their IP's to promote less-popular games is a good way to leverage their properties.

All i kept thinking while watching the video of the stage was: Why didnt they make the whole game like that? It has a vibrant Sonic adventure 1 vibe. It reminded me alot of the 3D stage from Sonic Jam aswell.

I think that is where Sonic level design should go.
