Things are getting interesting. MS is really turning things around, but PS4 is still going strong. PS4 currently has more indies and big downloadable titles in the arsenal (more games overall). Also everyone knows about the superior multiplats as well.
X1 is fighting back though. In terms of retail games, X1 has only one more game than PS4 and that game is just a launch title. However in terms of quality both consoles are on par with their exclusive and they cater to different audiences as of now. Both have a lot lined up for the future as well. Furthermore while the PS4 has more power, X1 does offer certain media features that many will be interested in. The price drop will also help sell on par with the PS4 as of now, but it alone won't close the gap that already exsists.
All I can say is pay attention to E3 this year. It will certainly speak volumes for both sides.
Finally, price is not going to be an excuse any more, while supplies last, which will be quite a while ;)
In this day and age, with the Internet, ignorance is a choice! And they're still choosing Ignorance! - Dr. Filthy Frank

A couple things to point out here.
First, the current MSRP of the basic SKU remains $499. That's the price that the majority of the consumer base is seeing. There are currently quite a few individual retail outlets offering hidden $50 discounts off the basic SKU, none of which are permanent. They're being listed as discounts off the regular price.
Second, the games being bundled (some bundle retail units, but I'm seeing a lot of bundled voucher codes which make more sense for retailers) are also dependent upon individual retailers; there is no Microsoft incentive to "pick any Xbox One game with your purchase of an Xbox One" currently being offered.
So yes, you can score a $50 discount in conjunction with a free title of a given retailer's choice, but this is still considered a temporary incentive (limited sale, promotion, discount, etc.) to presumably increase sales and not a permanent change.
These would not have the same effect as a $399 MSRP for the current XB1 base SKU. This is pretty much a given and until we see this, the effective cheaper price of the XB1, when paired with a retailer discount and free game promotion, will do little, if anything to shift sales trends.
I will say that post Titanfall launch, I'm now seeing PS4s in the wild at retail outlets (in cabinets) for the first time.

I swear it's like you miss the point every fucking time.
He said xb1 is 390 compared to ps4's 400.
If you buy xbl, which is 10 dollars more expensive than ps+, then they are at price parity.
390+60=450
400+50=450
OR
Just the ps4 in Canada.
Since launch, price comparison has switched by 150$. xbox down 100, ps4 up 50.

Xbox One has a free game and costs $450, PS4 is $399...which is cheaper? Hint: The one that costs less. I'm just poking fun at the OPer for conflicting the title and OP. Title says cheaper but the OP says more value...which is it? |
You're just being nitpicky, I think you know what I meant.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I swear it's like every time you keep on failing in keeping a moderate tone, don't you? Explain your argument in an educated way and people will keep talking to you, otherwise they won't.

Well with that logic. With Kinect it was the same price. It might edge to a small lead in the U.S. with it's new "we are $10 cheaper", plan.
Go Team Venture! I still don't get the Wii, PS Move, and Kinect. This certainly caught my attention to the X1. Thought about the PS4, but since I kinda liked some Kinect games on my 360 I may yet give the X1 a shot.
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
Whilst the PS4 seems unstoppable at the moment... This might be the price drop Microsoft, more particularly Xbox, has been waiting for. This combined with the strong release of forthcoming titles may just be the recipe for success moving forward!
