I'm not quite sure what the question is.

Anyway, no matter how I interpret the question, I don't think there isn't a case where I wouldn't answer strongly with Sony. You get great 3rd party games, great 1st party games and a tonne of Japanese exclusives. The PS3 just keeps on giving, even after its successor has launched.

In today's times, it's Sony because Sony has been giving what the peole want for games. Sony has been making a lot of new IP's as of late. As a guy who is a Nintendo fan, I'm not surprised that Sony is the top dog in the video gaming industry today.

Nintendo isn't consistent enough to be essential, that's for sure. Reputation alone isn't enough. MS doesn't care about regions other than North America and I'm guessing they'd find a way to milk the market dry too quickly if it was up to them so not MS either. That leaves only Sony, and while they're not perfect either, I think they're the most sustainable choice.

That's like if the same question was asked of handheld gaming, I answered Sony. Nintendo is as essential to console gaming as Sony is to handheld gaming.


If  Sony or MS stopped making consoles would anyone notice? I can play most of the games of these consoles on my PC.

Whereas for Nintendo it's a whole different sauce, 1st the question is the relevence of the company for console gaming ===> Nintendo is quite a bit more than the Wii U, they make tons of unique games playable only on Nintendo consoles, they make the best Handeld consoles & they are the most inovative company out there by a long shot.

IMO we will soon see that as Sony is on the verge of bankrupcy, the void left will be filled in a blink & I belive for the better!

The obvious answer is Nintendo. As much as I enjoy The Playstation and Xbox, their are way too many FPS's on those systems.

Sure they have a lot of third party, but Nintendo is way more unique.

Look up nintendo hardware  and software sales..... Nintendo released   all their hardware and software games sales up to date for all their systems handheld and console nintendo has sold over 4 billion pieces of software total  .....google it nintendo life and ign has these numbers
