Forums - Microsoft - 'Kinect Sports Rivals Will Silence Xbox One Critics' - Forbes

Some snippets:

In a nutshell, from getting scanned in to create a digitized Avatar, to picking your team and playing through the different sports there is a sense of finesse and quality throughout.

SoccerBowling and Tennis return in updated form while new activities Target Shooting, Climbing and Wake Racing expand the Kinect Sports Rivals cannon. It’s an intelligent way of keeping things familiar while adding fresh interest for more core gamers.

The difference over previous Kinect Sports titles is a greater sense of competition and skill. Not that the game is harder per se, but that the increased accuracy of the Kinect sensor moves this from an exuberant frantic work out to something requiring a deft touch and strategic understand more common in the likes of FIFA.

Reflecting on Xbox One in general Duncan was clear about the role Kinect Sports Rivals needs to play for the platform. “I think what it’s been missing is that killer awesome game. Which obviously at Rare we want to be that, and why we were a demo on day one and why we made the game.”

They might be right. I was pretty impressed with the Wake Racing demo on the Xbox One. Looking forward to the real game. It still missed my movements once or twice but on the whole, it was a pleasurable experience.

I didn't knew that Kinect Sports sold 5.8 million.. thats more then old Rare games like Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, DK64.. must have Rare magic in it..

maybe, maybe not, but this game is definitely on my buying list.

I already silenced the critics... Outside of gamepad centric games i mostly use Kinect on Xbox one and even on 360.... And YES i go faster doing so than those pretending to be faster with a gamepad... I call BS on those saying otherwise i have proved countless of my friends wrong... And YES without yelling... Heck it works from 20 feet away not aligned with it and a loud fan on...
we even do speed contest with the wife when watching movies and the only way the pads win is if its already on in her hands and she covers my voice saying something else...
only speech impeded people don't use Kinect when they have one... Or people that like to waste time... Heck on the new one motion control is almost as fast than the pad when used in concert with voice... I can't understand people not dreaming of minority report or star trek main computer command... The only way we get there is if people support it...

Yeah, Kinect is pretty nice on Xbox One.  I woke up this morning on my sofa after falling asleep watching TV last night.  The remote was across the room.  I just said:  "Xbox On".  "Xbox Watch TV".  "Xbox Watch HLN".

Didn't even have to wiggle a finger.  The Xbox One turned on the TV and the Satellite Receiver for me automatically.  It was an awesome moment in black history.

After a price drop, the X1 is the only system which can win the casual mass market with innovative high quality games like this. The scan yourself to play as yourself feature might be a standard in all future X1 games, even Call of Duty and Battlefield. Rare once had to remove this feature in Perfect Dark on the N64, where it was possible to scan your face with a Gameboy Camera in earlier versions.

Its so fast that on kinect joy ride you could get a podium finish without moving because it would read your mind.

You, sir, took the words right out of my mouth. A genius reply. Who wouldn't want to be a part of the infancy of technology that will one day be a standard?
