The PS4 version of Rayman actually had the best opening of them all, despite being such a late port. (yes, I know this is a joke but some people will jump on it).

screams overtracked to me honestly. Especially since NPD already confirmed that we overtracked all other versions of Rayman Legends as well.

Dude, I know what you're doing, but you're going to the danger zone... Just watch out on the weird insults! (like brain damage :$)

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Makes the arguments we had a year ago about Wii U 3rd party game sales seem a bit silly.

but does it though? I see what he is trying to do, but the fact is WIi U game sales from UBi ARE and still are bad. Hell just bringing PS4 into it makes it look worse, should have gone with X1

Yes Wii U game sales are horrible. I don't think anyone disagrees with that.

It's the cause of the low sales that's up for debate.

It may not be obvious at a glance, but Ubisoft hasnot done very well on the PlayStation 4. Despite being strong supporters of the platform, with a whopping three multiplat releases for the platform so far(!), one can easily argue that Ubisoft has not gotten their returns on their investment.

Just look at their latest release, Rayman Legends. Despite being released only a few months after it was released on virtually every platform under the sun, for prices that were rarely much cheaper, this game ONLY SOLD about 43,000 copies week one on the PS4! This is despite the PS4 dominating the console market at the moment. In contrast, even the PS3 version has sold over 300,000 copies!

Things are even worse for games like Just Dance 2014. Despite being a major launch title, and one of the big IP's of latter Generation 7, the game has only sold about 150,000 copies in the few months since launch. That's an attach rate of about 2 or 3%!

Some people would argue that the decent sales of Assassin's Creed 4 make up for these poor performances. Not at all! AC4 was always going to sell well, due to its being one of the biggest games of the year. Considering the cost of AAA development in today's market, I'm going to assume Ubisoft barely broke even. Besides, if AC4 sold twice as much on the ancient PS3, wy should they supporrt the PS4?

Personally, I blame PlayStation fans. They will only buy games made as exclusives for the platform. How else do you explain Knack already having sold about a million copies, despite poor reviews? And games like Killzone: Shadow Fall just make things worse, competing with 3rd party games like Call of Duty and Battlefield!

Whoever is to blame, it's obvious that Ubisoft, by which I mean every third party imaginable, can't break even on the PS4. Rather than waiting a couple of months for the userbase to double or spending less money on porting games over, I suggest they completely drop the platform. How do you expect a video game company to function if they sell less games than would be possible if another company didn't make games?

tl;dr The subpar sales of a couple of games mean everybody should drop PS4 support.

Yes, of course this is a joke! I'm a fanboy, not an idiot. But seriously, it takes more than one "flop" to make a platform a failure. Remember,  loads of games flopped on the PS2 and DS. That doesn't mean companies should not support currently troubled platforms like the VIta or the Wii U.

Too bad nobody bothered to read your spoiler.

PS4 obviously doesn't have the same numbers a PS3/360 yet.  Most multiplats have sold better on PS3/360 so far I think.

My 8th gen collection

lol at all the people who thought he was serious.

Are you just mad that the Wii U's fanbase just isn't into third parties? Ubisoft, EA and the lot of them have had great sales on Playstation. Assassins Creed sells very well on the Playstation and so did many other titles. Nintendo is the only company whom has trained its gamers not to support third party because of years of bad relationships with them.

that makes no sense. the reason that Nintendo console owners dont buy third party games isnt because Nintendo "trained" them not to.

I'm laughing so harrrrrd! I can't even breath LOL

The Bitch is back! And better then ever! #BritneyReturns

SONY Bring them BACK for PS4 and VITA!

I was hoping Nintendo would support Playstation 4 in the absence of Ubisoft.

So you compare the sales of a game on a console that have 80 millions users with a console that have 6 millions users and you wonder why it's less ?

Moreover a game that was already released months ago on several consoles before, so it makes even less people that will want to buy it on PS4. Or should all people buy again a game that they already have on PS3 ?

I rather believe Ubisoft are very happy of these 43000 copies ! The cost for them to port this game on PS4 is ridiculously low. They make a big profit on every single sale.

Your conclusion is funny as well btw. By your logic third party developers have no interest to release games on a new systems because obviously they can't expect to sale 5+millions games. But if they don't create them nobody will have a reason to buy new systems. So should we all just stay forever on PS3/360 ?

Well anyway this thread doesn't make any sense. You just see it as if it was all about direct investment returns, you don't see the big picture. Third party developers help to sell console at the beginning and more it sells the more future customers they will have. Plus their 1st games released early on the console will still be purchased for months by the new console owners.

And another thing that you don't get is that these games, like Assassin's creed 4 in your example, are cross-gen games. That means it was developped at the same time for the new and old gen, which mean the cost are split. With the same budget they have made one game that was released on PS3/360/PS4/X1 with not much differences and it doesn't take much time either. Otherwise they just wouldn't make it.
