What a fun read.

Well that's what they get for only promoting their games for Nintendo's platforms.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

In retrospect:

A) This thread is not funny.

B) The Xbox One would have been a better system to use as a subject.

C) Ubisoft's lineup was the wrong choice.

D) The point I was trying to make has already been made by other people more eloquently.

E) This thread is not funny.

If you've read this far, sorry for wasting your time.

Love and tolerate.

I agree with you that more publishers should have given the WiiU a chance and should have supported it better (Take Two/Rockstar, EA )

...but Ubisoft was like the only company which gave it a decent chance with ZombiU....(originally) Rayman Legends and a lot of multiplats.

...oh well....

but why though? why should have more publishers given wii U a "chance"? Would they have fared better than Ubi? I doubt it and i pretty sure they doubt it too, so why would they do what ubi did? Hell in retrospect they probably did the smart thing.  If you watch someone cross a street and get creamed by an escalade are you going to cross that street? you'll probably find a different street.

Yeah, abandon the best selling current gen console. Smart move.

Ubisoft would have a pretty difficult time of abandoning the PS4, given they've already promised 60 minutes of exclusive content for Watch Dogs. The game's already taken a serious hype hit, since it's delay. I doubt highly they want it to bomb completely.

No!  Sony should abandon Ubisoft until they release Beyond Good and Evil 2.

It may not be obvious at a glance, but Ubisoft hasnot done very well on the PlayStation 4. Despite being strong supporters of the platform, with a whopping three multiplat releases for the platform so far(!), one can easily argue that Ubisoft has not gotten their returns on their investment.

Just look at their latest release, Rayman Legends. Despite being released only a few months after it was released on virtually every platform under the sun, for prices that were rarely much cheaper, this game ONLY SOLD about 43,000 copies week one on the PS4! This is despite the PS4 dominating the console market at the moment. In contrast, even the PS3 version has sold over 300,000 copies!

Things are even worse for games like Just Dance 2014. Despite being a major launch title, and one of the big IP's of latter Generation 7, the game has only sold about 150,000 copies in the few months since launch. That's an attach rate of about 2 or 3%!

Some people would argue that the decent sales of Assassin's Creed 4 make up for these poor performances. Not at all! AC4 was always going to sell well, due to its being one of the biggest games of the year. Considering the cost of AAA development in today's market, I'm going to assume Ubisoft barely broke even. Besides, if AC4 sold twice as much on the ancient PS3, wy should they supporrt the PS4?

Personally, I blame PlayStation fans. They will only buy games made as exclusives for the platform. How else do you explain Knack already having sold about a million copies, despite poor reviews? And games like Killzone: Shadow Fall just make things worse, competing with 3rd party games like Call of Duty and Battlefield!

Whoever is to blame, it's obvious that Ubisoft, by which I mean every third party imaginable, can't break even on the PS4. Rather than waiting a couple of months for the userbase to double or spending less money on porting games over, I suggest they completely drop the platform. How do you expect a video game company to function if they sell less games than would be possible if another company didn't make games?

tl;dr The subpar sales of a couple of games mean everybody should drop PS4 support.

Yes, of course this is a joke! I'm a fanboy, not an idiot. But seriously, it takes more than one "flop" to make a platform a failure. Remember,  loads of games flopped on the PS2 and DS. That doesn't mean companies should not support currently troubled platforms like the VIta or the Wii U.

the two games you mention have two major flaws one for rayman, it was a late port so the people who wanted to play it probably already bought it, and for Just Dance, well IMO its more of a game for casuals, kids, and i guess female gamers for the most part, the PS4 isnt being marketed towards those segments, also to note you need the camera for Just Dance and not only are they hard to find but its the only game that seems to use it so why would someone buy a game that needs another 70$ accessory that at the moment isnt being used for anything other then streaming game content so people can watch you while your playing a game?   Maybe Ubisoft should make better decisions on what games to bring to the ps4 and when to bring them.  Playstation brand has people who dont buy crap for the sake of buying crap and IMO Just dance falls into the crap catagory, and Rayman while a good game just is late to the party buy way to much time, youll see good games like Watch Dogs and Ass creed sell well on the ps4 while shit games or games catered to markets like Just Dance wont sell great.  The whole motion gaming fad is over for all intents and purposes, im sure we will still get the occasional good game for it though.

id rather see ubisoft go and make better games like Beyond Good and Evil 2 and stuff like that.
