I think the developer should not reveal that the protagonist is gay before releasing the game. Tell a deep story with good character developement , let the players attach to the character and then .. BANG, at least the players would see the subject from a different angle, and who knows, they might "understand". I honestly think it is a good material for a good story.

i don't quite get your point. You mention the way people want to be portrayed is lame yet you yourself are asking things similar to the article you cite.

you mention politically correct yet going way over the top with stereotypes( the way you usually see it) isn't correct.

There are plenty of western movies that don't have gay characters going over the top, there are many but guess what there are plenty of over the top gay guys out there.

As for black, what movies have you been watching where guys mention it all the time? comedies? action movies? or a more serious movie or drama?

I have a hard time expressing my opinion as I go back and forth between different topic that I lose what I was going to say in the first place.

I agree with you. The stereotypes of gay people are like if strait men were only shown as drunk sex obsess frat boys. It's like that strait guy that plays the most shallow stereotype of a gay person on Modern Family. I find it really insulting. Sure some people are like that, but not all and not only.

Its why my favorite portrayal of a gay character on TV is Willow from Buffy. She grew up and realized, hey I'm gay. Then she dated a girl. No big deal, no butch hair cut, no buying a makita drill or suddenly become a diesel mechanic. She was just the way she was, only instead of lusting after guys, she dated girls.

I like in Skyrim, everyone is strait or gay depending on who they date. It's not a big deal. As it should be, some dudes date dudes, and some girls date girls. It's only a very small part of what defines them.

We do not need to get to the point where we're making gay or lesbian game characters "just so they're represented". There's nothing wrong with having one, if it fits, but at the same time, do they need to be SUPER-BIG-GAY-AL style gay to be considered "represented"? Do they need to fit their stereotype, as many ethnic minority characters often do?

I think someone else above said it best, the best type of gay character would be the one who is just a normal character, who is a bad ass (or whatever), and you didn't even have an outward (IE flamboyant) sign that they were gay.

To be fair, Popeyes does make some mighty good chicken.
