I loved the original Yoshi's Island, still one of my favorite platformers ever. This one has looked terrible since it was first revealed. I will never get used to that artstyle.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Really? I remember a magazine back then (Gamefan, I think) giving Yoshi's Island game of the year despite all of the hype around the newly released Playstation and Saturn. |
I wasn't gaming then (also i was 5), though my historical recollections told me it was just overshadowed by DKC.
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
Am I among the few here that is still buying it? :(

Having one bad game in a line up of multiple great ones wouldn't hurt anyone.
OT: So this wasn't actually made by Nintendo themselves? My only question is... why?
You could tell even by the lack of creativity with the title of the game that this was going to be a vapid dull release.
Nintendo needs new ideas. The same thing over and over again is struggling to suffice at this point.

Ah man, Yoshi's Island was so hyped at the time. It was a technical marvel like the DKC games, but in a different way. It was the N64 game they released on the SNES! :D
I also loved the completely new approach to the gameplay mechanics.
That said I also think people are being harsh to Yoshi's Island DS.
I'm absolutely gutted with the reviews for this though. This was one of the few 3DS titles I've actually been interested in over the last year or so that's doubly gutting. Hopefully Kirby will be better. Roll on May!

I'll probably get it. I'm more inclined to believe IGN over EDGE.
"The sharp controls have the same feel of the classic 2D SNES game, and the six worlds are full of well-hidden collectibles. If you’ve played any Nintendo platformers, this should sound familiar, because Yoshi ’s New Island repackages the essential pieces well." Jose Otero, IGN
