You live in the UK and you are abel to connect to the internet? Have you not heard of internet sales sites like Amazon or Game? Those prices, they have had them for a while already.

OT If you think £30 is fantastic then you will love £39,85 for MK8 preorder deliverd free.

And if your fond of RRP you are welcome to Sweden.

I buy on the high street as much as possible out of principal. Especially won't buy from Amazon unless they're a last resort as their prices are through tax avoidance. I see Wii U Party is £5.00 more than I paid on the high street despite the retailer I purchased from paying it's staff a fair wage and helping support local employment. So I don't really get your point? Oh and it's £33 on GAME :p

However, your comments on amazon only support the point further it shows that multiple retailers are selling the game noticible BELOW Nintendo's retail price so soon after launch. Notice that the Wii version of Donkey Kong is £27.40 still and Super Mario Galaxy 2 is £35.67.

I don't know if you're familiar with how Amazon works, but their prices are automatically calculated by algorhythms which compare multiple retail sources and popularity to try and come up with a slightly more competitive price. So if a few places reduce an item, they'll follow suit.

As for Mario Kart, £40 is the price it will be from the high street, without having to wait for Amazon to deliberately slowly pick the item and send it out by second class post (you have to pay extra to have it sent in a faster postage standard) and be able to get it day of release rather than the week after. Donkey Kong was £40 on release.

Also reduced at other retailers. If it was a Codemasters game or a SEGA game, it would be expected. But not for a first party Nintendo title.

I also get cashback on purchases from Grainger via their reward scheme, so I actually paid less than £30.

Considering DKCTF was 42,99€ in most stores here in Germany at launch, I don't see how 30£ is anything worth talking about. That's like, what, a 5€ price reduction? Fairly normal, if you ask me. Especially considering most games are a bit less costly in Britain anyway.

Add me if you like!

Ask me about 3DS Friend Code if interested. All other things are in the profile!

And it should be noted that Grainger Games are a small player in video games retail. They're only of note in the North of England with no presence down South - including London - that I'm aware of.

Definitely worth getting Wii Play U for 30 quid, CEX are offering £11 cash or £16 in-store credit for the game only.

Both games were around £35 on release, so i wouldnt call a £5 reduction a fire sale. I see you got them from Grainger games (thats where i shop) and they always undercut the prices GAME set. In fact, where i live we have a Grainger and a GAME virtually next door to each other.

It was £39.99 2 weeks ago. Thats a 25% reduction in 2 weeks.

So, I had a great shopping trip this weekend managing to pick up Wii U Party with Wii Remote and Motion Plus AND Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for £30 each this weekend.

However, as great as this was, it's also an alarming precedent for Nintendo software. Super Mario 3D World for example was also reduced to £30 even before Christmas. Sonic Lost World... well, Sonic games always get reduced pretty soon after release, but for the big name Nintendo IPs this is just unheard of. For reference, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 held their full retail price at retailers until Nintendo choose to release budget versions a few years after launch.

There has always been a trust in Nintendo software that it will not be reduced in price within weeks, that has always given a confidence to buying Nintendo titles day 1. Even Nintendo themselves have stated the importance of not making the consumer think prices will drop quickly.

Is this a temporary blip for Wii U? Or is this the beginning of Nintendo games regardless of pedigree, being just as suceptible to rapid price drops and medicre mainstream 3rd party software offerings?

Although Wii U is clearly underperforming in the UK, Wii U Party and in particular Tropical Freeze's retail orders will have been made in line with expectations for a slow selling console with a low userbase. So to still feel a need to slash the retail price within weeks of release is actually quite alarming for me, as much as it's great that I was able to get Tropical Freeze more quickly than originally intended.

Should I stick to my plan to buy Mario Kart day 1? Or will it be reduced within 2 weeks of release?

I find it interesting that these threads are almost always started by someone with a pro Playstation signature.  What's wrong, bored because you don't have anything new to play?

Stop hating and start playing.

Why can't I get deals like that in my country!?!? T^T

Off topic, my deal of the weekend was Ninja Gaiden 3 for Wii U. £12 was too good a price to miss. :)

Not surprising at all considering that its the UK. Machine has no hope at all here.

Edit - And Grainger Games is the lowest, shittest company in the entire Country.

Truly a major flop. Now we must talk about it.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
