I'm confident that the Wii U will get down-ports from the PS4 and One when the installed userbase is high enough to make it viable, particularly if the One continues to flop in Europe.

That doesn't seem to be much likely. About the tech, it is much closer to PS4/One than than Wii was to PS360. The only real downside (aside raw power, of course), it's the older GPU that will make GPGPU code for PS4/One incompatible with Wii U. The CPU can be a problem too, PS360 had weak GPUs but they at least had pretty powerfull GPUs. But about CPU, only time will tell. About GPGPU code, time will only make things worse as PS4 and One games start to do heavy physics using it.

But tech isn't what dictates support in the end. If the games were selling, it would get ports even if they had to substantially reenginer the games. PS2 was a pain to programa for compared to GC and XB, but it had the user base so publishers just had to accept it and make their games. The problem with Wii U is that it wasn't the console the market wanted, so nobody bought it and the 3rd party support will start to vanish.

Is this really a surprise? We know nintendo cant get Wiiu replaced fast enough at this point. I will be surprised if much if anything will be out for it next year.

How do fan boys like zero not get banned, ruining a thread by calling everybody a liar, when he has no idea what he's talking about.

The thing is that we know next to nothing about the GPU apart from the fact that its ALUs are twice the size they should be and that it has GPGPU functionality. It isn't a GCN but it's no slouch either.

We'll have to wait and see what happens with Project CARS and how close it is to the PS4 and One versions in terms of eye candy to get more of an idea of how it compares to them.

Going by Latte's die shot it's a completely custom made chip that doesn't resemble ANYTHING else that AMD have released. It's a real Frankenstein's Monster.

Most annual release games are going to stop coming to Wii U at some point, but games with a longer development cycle and movie games might stand a chance in some cases, as well as franchises that have always done well on Nintendo systems, like Lego and Skylanders.

Actually I don't think so.

I doubt Assassin's Creed will be on the Wii U this year. Maaaaaybe Call of Duty, but even there the dev team last year was complaining about having too many versions of the game to work on, and the PS3/360 have too big of an install base to ignore.

The sales just aren't there and all these companies have limited manpower, expending them on making a port that might make you a few peanuts in profit just isn't smart asset management.

So, you agree with me then? I said annual releases will stop coming, and you agreed...

Stop this fanboy bs, we know what power range the gpu is, developers have made statements about its power, give us great detail, not mention the neogaf confirmed the specs, game performance,  and technical analysis by beyond3d, project cars is shooting for 720p/30pfps while The The x1/PS4 Are Gonna Be 1080p/60fps with much better graphics, in fact the developer themselves said this and have told us the Wii U gpu is 176 glops

It isn't fanboy bullshit. We know next to nothing about the GPU. Gaf hasn't confirmed anything, we were quite divided whilst the thread was still open. A lot of it was complete guesswork, what everyone agreed on was that the ALUs were twice the size they should be and the amount of memory cache. That's it lol.

And the likes of Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, X and SSBU wouldn't be possible on a bog standard 176GFlop GPU (and we were divided on that too some thought it was that others (including my good self) thought it was twice that).

Like I said we'll have to wait and see how Project CARS compares to judge fairly. And I've already pointed out several times that the Wii U would have to have down-ports from the PS4 and One with concessions such as the ones you've listed.

Oh? This was still a topic?

Wii U has no 3rd party support. Move along, we already know that.

The most popular hypothesis that Latte was a 16:320:8 part @ 550 mHz. Fortunately, we can see how such a part runs games on the PC. You know, the PC, that inefficient beast that's held back by Windows, thick APIs, Direct X draw-call bottlencks that break the back of even fast CPUs, and all that stuff. Here is a HD 5550, a VLIW5 GPU with a 16:320:8 configuration running at @550 mhz:

And it blows past the 360 without any problems. It's not even close. And that's despite being on the PC!

Now lets scale things back a bit. This is the Llano A3500M w/ Radeon 6620G - a 20:400:8 configuration GPU, but it runs @ 444 MHz meaning it has exactly the same number of gflops and TMU ops as the HD 5550, only it's got about 20% lower triangle setup and fillrate *and* it's crippled by a 128 bit DDR 1333 memory pool *and* it's linked to a slower CPU than the above benchmark (so more likely to suffer from Windows/DX bottlenecks). No super fast pool of edram for this poor boy!

And it *still* comfortably exceeds the 360 in terms of the performance that it delivers. Now lets look again at the Wii U. Does it blow past the 360? Does it even comfortably exceed the 360? No, infact most ports are worse. infact a developer has confirmed the the wiiu to be 176gflops gpuVLIW5 which makes it slighty better then the the 360 240 glops VLIW4   but of couse nintedo fanboys will ignore the facts and make specs that from there ass

I've already told you why the PS3 and 360 ports for the most part have had performance issues.

Again, I'm not for a second saying that the Wii U is comparable to the PS4 and One in terms of power. It sits somewhere between the PS3 and Xbox One, and as a result won't have any problems running down-ports from the other two current gen consoles. Developers will find it a great deal easier to port between the current gen consoles due to having virtually the same console architecture.

And have you any sauce for that developer and his 176GFlops claim? Developers do have strict NDAs.
