What's this guy's problem? Didn't he hear Iwata say "please understand"? What more does he want?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

advertise a NFS game? I don't think I have ever seen NFS adds on TV, perhaps in stores with EAs logo on it but that is about it

You are joking, right? Need for Speed games have always been heavily advertised.

I bought and enjoyed the game on Wii U. I already had the game on my PS3. Later on I even bought the game on PS-Vita. I could care less where Criterion (Alex Ward) games go, I will buy them.

I completely get his frustration with Nintendo and the poor way in which the release of late to console 3rd party games are treated (NFS and Deus Ex being examples). I guess Nintendo itself feels burnt on how poorly Mass Effect 3, Batman Arkham City, Darksiders 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3 sold on Wii U.

I wonder what kind of game they're working on. They should at least talk to Dan Adelman, no point letting EA's bullshit rob them of a potential market.

Port begging is becoming really annoying fgs. If a publisher or developer doesn't want to put their game on a system that is their choice and they have their reasons.

Yup.

But they might be dumb reasons.

The only time port-begging is really asinine is when it's a paid exclusive...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

The idea "why Nintendo should care" is foolish. Nintendo would have known that it's 1st party titles were coming too slowly to support the Wii U in 2013, so they should have courted more 3rd parties and indies to help fill the void. Instead the system just rotted last year, pretty much beyond the point of no return already.

I always feel like the best response to all this "but why should Nintendo even bother?!" chatter is using Skyrim on PS3 as an example, where Sony supposedly literally sent out coders to help get the DLC working on PS3.

I mean, if we apply the "why should Nintendo bother?" logic, then why would Sony have bothered?  It was months after the DLC had launched on the other platforms; Bethesda clearly didn't care enough or they would've made it work themselves; and even worse it was just DLC rather than a full game.  If people wanted Skyrim they'd have bought it by the time there was all this DLC kerfuffle; or gone to another platform if DLC mattered that much.

But regardless, Sony got it sorted.  Because in principle was a big deal - Skyrim was a big title and clearly Sony didn't want this kind of disparity with a rival console getting all the content and them getting none.  So they reached out and got it sorted.

And yes, it's just a one-off example, but it just shows that as a company, Sony are willing to work with third parties to fix things if the issues are sizeable enough.

I'd go as far as to say that all this "exclusive content only on x" rubbish is part of Sony and Microsoft realising the value of some third party games.  It's a horrible, horrible practice but they bid on all this stuff because they realise that Destiny - or Call of Duty - or Batman or whatever else is that is coming out is a key game that they want to make most attractive on their platform, so they pay extra money to have that incentive.  Nintendo's attitude towards third parties seems to be "if you want to put your games on our platform, that's great" and leave it at that.  Which is fine, and probably the more traditional thing to do in these situations, but when their competitors are trying so much harder to get things done then I don't know why their fans think all this stuff should be showing up "because it's not Nintendo's job" so they're not doing anything wrong.

Why are you comparing something big like skyrim to need for speed? I understand like you said there not the same bit you still tried to make it somewhat reason for nintendo to do the same.

Let's look at facts.

Need for speed developers complain that it they didn't publish the game in Europe. The reality is there was no interest in the game for system that nintendo/EA could have noticed from pre-orders. They could have determine that it would be a waste on both parties to publish.

"Excuse me sir, I see you have a weapon. Why don't you put it down and let's settle this like gentlemen"  ~ max

I dont know why the dude is complaining, he and his staff got paid. Criterion got caught between the spat between EA and Nintendo, Criterion got paid but Ninty and EA are prob out of pocket.

EA- We are dropping support for your system, NFS will be the last game.
Nintendo- Ok fuck you, we will not throw any marketing behind it and you will make no money.
Criterion- Caught in the middle but at least they got paid.
That is it in a nut shell. Partly Nintendos fault but mainly the fault of EA.
