this would explain why they are developing a AAA title that's for "free" on ps+ right from the start

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:
WiiU: Donkey Kong
XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse
This : Driveclub to use VR ! Can't wait.

no, the Sony HMDs are not VR headsets, they give you the impression of looking at a huge TV from some distance
VR means covering (almost) all of your field of view and distort the image in a way that the brain can't tell it's just looking at a virtual space, hence possibly giving you the feeling of "presence", of actually being in that world
Using a headset/rift or whatever is easiest to implement in a driving game where there is already a focus on interior details
If they are launching it, it does seem logical that Drive Club would be the game to show it off
I hope Sony doesn't insist with this. Don't think people are interested right now, Not to mention the price.

All what I remember is Sony won't bring over-priced products on the market. Not after the PS3 disaster, ofcourse the VR headset won't be cheap but also not extremely expensive. Of course this is just assuming

PS4 + DriveClub + PS4 VR headset = $1k
sounds quite reasonable price but just many people really going to pay for it...??

I hope so. But this is looking a lot like what 3D was for Sony.
If I remember correctly, there was a thread about Driveclub using the VR headset right here in this forum, just a few days ago.
But anyway, there's this article for example:
http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2014/02/rumour_was_ps4_racer_driveclub_delayed_due_to_sonys_vr_headset
...which also claims that Sony will reveal their VR headset at GDC, and that Driveclub will indeed be the first game to use it.
I assume the rumours are correct, In my opinion it makes perfect sense.
I'm really wondering what the headset will be like when it comes to price and experience. I too assume current consoles to be too weak to deliver an experience on the same level as an Oculus Rift, but I believe it will still make the masses extremely excited.
It might even give the Xbox One the final death blow, as customers might perceive the PS4 as the only console providing a truly unique, innovative new experience/feature that everyone wants to try out. Similar to motion controls when the Wii came out.
