I thought you could swap the internal hdd on the PS4 like in the ps3

But would you rather just plug and unplug an USB device or open shit up? I did swap HDDs in my PS3 a few times for different purposes but lets face it, it's a fucking console, users shouldn't have to deal with that kind of bullshit.

I would rather change the hard drive than have a USB one personally.

Agreed. I stuck a 2TB HDD in my PS4 the day after i was given it, so i'm pretty much set for the generation. Having the choice to put an SSD in is also very nice.

What a waste of storage... I'd take a 4gb console with 4tb external over a 5tb internal any day...

Really? you don't want USB3? that thing goes from 80-130MB/s with a normal HDD inside and all you have to do is to plug it in without having to open anything. With a Raid-0 Enclosure, you can easily manage 160MB+/s and those are not even SSD numbers.

Keep 'em coming.

ONE by November 2014 will already be a very different beast to the ONE of November 2013

I want them to fully open up the DLNA streaming to make it easier to achieve, although I can get it working now its a bit messy to say the least.

I expect some large announcements at E3 or shortly after.....

I use an Android App (Bubble upnp) to push content from my PC to the X1.

Cost and aesthetics outweighs all of that for me. And I'm a complete novice at this stuff, but isn't SATA II > USB3?

I simply find it more convenient. 2TB will be enough to last me the entire generation, it runs well at 135MB/sec and i don't need to worry about another portable HDD laying around (already have 2). Just my preference ^^

Title reads: "The Next Xbox One Update Already In Development"

Funny thing is that the next Xbox One update will ALWAYS be in development.

Same for PS4.

The title should've been what is speculated to be in the next update. The external HDD support would be a biggie.

The limitation is the HDD speed these days, not the interface speed, you'd need SSD to break certain barriers which would then cost a lot more, as far as external USB3 goes, they are fairly cheap these days.

I personally just have a USB dock laying around and I can swap HDDs on the Wii U if things go bad, which hopefully I'll be able to use with the PS4 if I ever get one by then as it's a USB3 dock, easier than opening something up if the HDD dies for sure. I think the only thing Nintendo did better than MS and Sony so far is the idea of the OS running on the NAND and having the option of using external drives ATM, it really makes things easier and is less prone to malfunction if you think about it. Future consoles should just adept to this idea IMO.
