If you love single player adventure games, ps3 has those in spades (Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, etc.) It has most of the good 3rd party games like the 360 does. If you like shooters, right now resistance and unreal tournament are the only good exclusive ones but Killzone 2 and resistance 2 are great exclusive shooters coming.

Especially if you are a final fantasy or metal gear solid fan, i would get ps3.

also the free online is pretty sweet, while not as much content as the 360, you can still have a blast playing unreal or resistance online (and warhawk).
since you say you want sports games, if you like baseball sony has the exclusive title MLB 08: the Show, which many consider to be the best baseball franchise.

However, if you like shooters primarily, i would get the 360. Gears of War, Halo 3, bioshock, and the 3rd party ones like rainbow six are the best games on the system. however, without getting online it will dampen the experience a lot.

personally, i think you should get a ps3. If shooters aren't your primary concern, i would stay with sony.

Both of those systems will have all of those sports games, and they'll probably be the same.  I'd recommend getting the system that doesn't die early and often.  Get the system that doesn't have the lowest hardware quality of any video game system ever released. 

I'd recommend the PS3.

Buy PS2 then. Judging from you profile, you don't have it, so it should be no brainer.

PS3 is the best all-rounder in my opinion .And with free online and built-in Wifi and Blu Ray Player .Go for it .

The PS3. There are a lot of good or decent games coming up for this console!
ans some great games like the Ratchet and Clank and GT5 and cod4

both of these consoles have sports games that you mentioned and the ps3 has i guess a little bit better graphics than the 360
But of course the Wii is funner than the PS3 :P

PS3, it holds more value, and since Microsoft fanboys no longer have the "games" excuse there is simply no reason to get a 360.

Has a GREAT! point. Find a 20/60/or 80gig and you have Ps2 and Ps3 games at your disposal. (Everyone knows Ps2 + Ps3 > Halo3) (Gears and Bioshock are on PC)

 i would strongly recomend the 360, unless yo want to watch movis in high def (seriously does that matter) the 360 has a far better game selection, comes with HD cables, and you can play the multicosole games as well. and the DLC is a lot better, and you can dowload game demos, and it has BC. if you want a snoy product just get the ps2, its better then a ps3, in game selection and in cost.
