wii u would run the game without much difference.

I think you're underestimating the tech in Final Fantasy 15. The physics calculations needed for all of those crystal effects around Noctis for instance would be pretty demanding. Every aspect of the game has been improved between the original PS3 version and the next-gen version, hair and clothing physics, lighting, textures, anti-aliasing, etc. The Wii U isn't that much more powerful than the PS3. I see you cited Monolith's X earlier in the article, but X's graphics really aren't that much better than the original PS3 version of Versus 13. If the original code for Versus 13 on PS3 was completed I'm sure that they could easily get it running on Wii U, but I'm not sure that they could easily take 15's code and downgrade everything to run on Wii U. Could it be done, yes, it probably could, but it would take considerable effort, and I'm sure that Square believes the sales potential of a Wii U version doesn't outweight that extra work needed to port it.

bolded: tons of irrelevant stuff easily scalable.

bolded2: NO.

How is any of that irrelevant? Nomura isn't going to downgrade the game just to get it on WiiU.

So let me be the Devil's advocate here... What is it exactly that makes Final Fantasy 15 so 'impossible' on WiiU?

Expressions like "I mean, just look at it" aren't really cutting it, and on that one thing I must side with Zero. Judging by those posted gifs, okay so there's a large beast in the background, is that so impossible? Why? Is that crumbling corridor (or bridge, whatever it is) so impossible, or could they just cut down on the sparkles a little? X is possible, the Zelda tech-demo is possible. Technically, they could make anything for everything, if they really wanted to. If they wanted, but I guess that's the entire issue isn't it...

I agree FF15 wouldn't make much sense considering WiiU demographics even if they would be willing to put in the effort, but Kingdom Hearts should come to WiiU. Disney games sell well on Nintendo platforms and the Kingdom Hearts franchise itself has done well on DS and 3DS. I think Square should make the gamble on that one.

Personally though, I couldn't care less whether or not either comes to WiiU, because frankly I couldn't care less whether or not these games even exist in the first place.

Nothing on FF 15 is impossible on wii u, people just like to exaggerate. most difference we would see is resolution and some less shiny effects.

OT: PS4 and X1 architecture are similar so I can understand why Square decided to release it on X1 rather than the WiiU. They wouldn't need to go through all the porting issues (implying the additional costs) that they might have faced with the WiiU and can at least justify the release on the X1.

Kingdom Hearts has a fanbase on nintendo platforms, thats a fact.

You're making the assumption with this that Nintendo handheld fanbase = Nintendo home console fanbase.  I'd certainly agree there's a degree of overlap between the two but I don't think you can say that just because they're on one, they're on the other (or WiiU would be selling better!)

Otherwise we'd be saying "Kingdom Hearts has a fanbase on Sony platforms" and so the game should be coming to Vita before anything else, which obviously isn't the case.

Not that there's any indication that X1 has any better fanbase, but if X1 keeps a hold of any of the PS2 -> 360 converts, then I think it will do.

I don't really know where the Kingdom Hearts fanbase is these days.  Square have done such a shit job of handling the franchise following #2 that I'm pretty sure they just fragmented and dissipated by this point.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Yeah i notice but i see KH more of a HC franchise so i think many would jump ship to get it (hh gamers to hc gamers). Also its all spin off for nintendo numbers which mean something!

what's so impossible about a little downgrade on things that won't affect the gameplay experience?

Lower resolution, geometry with lower complexity, lower polygon count per characters and monsters, choppy frame-rate, no Tesselation, no real-time lighting, or very limited with most of it ending up pre-baked, the list goes on...

There's a LOT that would have to be done to make it work on the Wii U. You seriously have no idea what is going on in that game.

It's not just downgrading, it's also additional costs and extra time spent doing something which may not even be profitable.

^This. The fact is that new assets would need to be designed for a Wii U version, that means more development effort. Square doesn't believe that the sales potential on the Wii U outweighs the development effort required to port the game to Wii U.

That isn't the case with the Xbox One, all they have to do to get it working is lower the resolution some and maybe a few other minor changes.

These aren't little downgrades, they would have to change so many things that it would be like a designing an entirely seperate game, it just isn't worth it considering how poorly 3rd party games sell on WiiU. Why do you think Square Enix didn't put Thief or Tomb Raider DE on the platform? They've already given up on it.
