In a recent interview with US Gamer, Retro Studios Michael Kelbaugh said that the talented development team would be lucky to get the chance to work on another game in the Metroid franchise.“You’re not going to find a larger bunch of Metroid of Metroid Prime fans than at Retro studios. We’ll be lucky to someday, maybe, work on another one. There’s a lot of people in the studio left over from Metroid Prime that are very passionate about Metroid… If the fans keep asking, then maybe we’ll answer.”

What do you think? Are they just waiting for enough support to confirm they are making the next Metroid or are they just making a different game all together?

So much news/rumors all over the VGChartz today

It really means nothing. Though my bet is still on "new IP" or possibly Star Fox if they really try to make SF into a bigger game.

There's been four games in the series since we've last received a traditional Metroid game, five if you include Metroid Prime Pinball. I wonder if we'll ever get another classic Metroid and if it'll be good.

I'm GLAD they aren't working on Metroid. Let someone else do that. I want Retro to make either something NEW (their own fresh IP) or revive something like Star Fox. They are CLEARLY good at reviving dormant franchises.
