haha, I thought it was "embarrassing that a next gen console couldn't do full 1080p" and now The Order and this and many more games will not be full HD ps4 games. I hope this will put an end to these annoying endless arguments about frame rates and resolutions, but this gen PS fans will keep gloating how their games look so much better than X1 games. To be fair to them, xbox fans were very arrogant last gen about third party games being better on their console so I guess these arguments will never end.

What is really embarassing, and people seem to dont understand that,  is paying $100  more for a less powerful hardware when the other console $100 cheaper has the best versions of the games, then you have the possibility to get a better version of the games for a better price. So no, obviously, having a better framerate or  better resolution, better everything( yes, people are to focused on these 2 things whereas there is many others technical aspects) for a better price will always be a thing, and that's the way it should be, that makes sense if you're a smart gamer. Why pay more to get less when you can get more for less ?

( + The Order will be full HD quality so the resolution isnt a problem there, before talking about resolution, you should know why people ask for a better resolution, still, at the moment, only very few PS4 games are not 1080p , even if that isnt the only important thing of course)

And yet this forum is full of PS4 owners who had no idea the game they were playing was actually sub HD. Which tells you this "best versions" stuff is a lod of BS.

Also, can you remind me what the PS4 resolutions for Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3, Titanfall, Ryse, and Forza 5 are?

Do you make room for the possibility that some people care about games more than pixel counting?

I wouldnt bother......

Well the $100 more includes the Kinect which is quite a powerful device. One could argue that the X1 offers better value for  money. Perhaps to you and many other people it may feel like a useless device, but it is still an advanced piece of technology.

All I'm pointing out is that these resolution arguments are pointless and annoying. Nobody denies that the ps4 is much more powerful but I have no doubt in a few months the X1 will have games that are all full HD as well.

Alright so the game is actually technically 1920X1080. Just 1080i.

But only because it merges data from two rendered frames to make one output frame. It's rendering in 960X1080, and then appears to be filling in the other 960X1080 with info from the previous frame. It appears to be a temporal AA technique in a way. Looks pretty bad in this screenshot.

TLDR: it's complicated.

Halo was never the best looking game on the market

When the first Halo came out I literally thought it was the best looking game on the market. When the second came out I thought it was also right up there.

So I say you're making a false statement there.

On one hand this is no big deal, who fucking cares.

On the other hand it's goddamn hilarious to any regular user of this site who has had to sift through thread after thread of baiting, recycled BS regarding resolutions and frame rate. How many threads and posts have we witnessed going on about 1080p60 and how any real gamer can tell the difference and should accept nothing less? And it turns out that for months some of these guys championing this rhetoric were enjoying their 1080p60 Killzone 6 and even praising it for such here on this forum and it turns out even they didn't know it was actually not full HD, was a lower resolution AFAIK than RYSE of all games, and is actually 50fps and not 60.

I think this should render any future resolution and frame rate shenanigans null, void, and irrelevant.

You can't honestly believe that. This is literally the exact same situation as last gen except with role reversal.

In this day and age, with the Internet, ignorance is a choice! And they're still choosing Ignorance! - Dr. Filthy Frank

Alot of you guys are unreal. I've been lurking this site for probably over a year now, enjoying interesting sales discussions and also the ridiculous back and forthing by some of you. All 3 teams have people guilty of saying stupid stuff. If you can't own more than one console, no biggie, enjoy the games you get for it. If you can afford it, do yourself a favor and get one or two of the other consoles, you'll get the most out of gaming.

In the end, pixels don't matter, who has the highest framerate doesn't matter and who has the most and best exlusives doesn't matter. Everyone has different tastes, you can't argue opinion. Just enjoy your games!

I played the single player through twice and never intended to touch multiplayer yet now I'm intrigued to see what temporal upscaling does. GT5 and GT6 upscale horizontally which is clearly visible, but since it matches 1080p vertically you do get a better sense of the road and corners ahead. With an fps I would sooner expect the horizontal resolution to take priority, why not 1920x720 for example. It does look pretty messy in Joe's screenshot.

Sigh. Neither of the console's have particularly powerful GPU's even at the generational outset this time around.

I understand the fiscal necessity of that decision, I really do. Still, its a bit disappointing.

Please qualify your use of words there.
