I won't lie, I was expecting many replies. HOWEVER, since when does popular discussion imply the OP is trolling? Since when are threads comparing sales of two, very comparable games (as in easily compared, I am not saying they are comparably good), considered trolling?

Axum was probably right in locking it given the personal attacks and off-topic posting in the thread though.

What I find interesting is that Kirby's response thread (Knack vs. LBP) is considered just fine even though:

1) It's a response thread

2) It compares Knack to another platformer, that it can be less easily compared to than Mario

The only reason that thread is open is because people didn't get apeshit in it and the only reason people didn't get apeshit is because it didn't say something sold more than Mario.

You mean that open thread that is locked?

So true.

Many abrasive and provocative threads here now that are designed purely to get a rise out of people but break no explicit rule.  The knack threads are a fine example.

THIS is the true problem of the VGC forum, as identified by Brett himself, and one which cant very easily be remedied...

Thank you. Even ioi acknowledges that problem, which says a lot.

He said he had a "black list" of user's names, probably BS but still funny nonetheless.

Nintendo and PC gamer

Let's see...

"It's not a game if..."
"You're not a true gamer if..."
"You're a fanboy because you like/dislike/think..."
"Reviewers are bad/bribed/fanboy because they didn't give a 10/10 to..."
"It's my opinion, so I don't care..."
"I have higher standards because I play..."
"The worst genre/fanbase in gaming is..."
"Gaming has been going downhill since..."

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

I think all of these are quite interesting to discuss. Which is probably why I'm on this forum.

The worst part about these  threads is that they  scare away many good users.  I truly hope VGChartz improves on this aspect..

1.- Graphics.- there is a lot of things than came to my mind with this subject: nice graphic= awful gameplay(for some reason), 720p vs 1080p controversy, double standard issues here and there, etc.

2.-best game ever.- aghh "is subjective" the say, and then those people claims "X" game is the best ever made

3.-Innovation >>>>>> fucking everything.- Quality? wtf is dat? gimme innovation please

X game isn't a real game. Y game is a movie not a game. Z game is just another dumb shooter (just because it has guns). That sort of thing.

Hype around concept art, shipped versus sold, 720p versus 1080p, "vgchartz numbers are bogus anyway", "definitive version" of multiplatform games, -insert company - d0med, "fanbase A is so much worse than fanbase B", bitching about moderators and moderations, 90% of anything concerning Michael Pachter, Metacritic wars, hardware capacity contests, "who is more evil" mudslinging contests.

So many things, probably the majority of the topics being discussed and the good topics we do have are often derailed and head into muddy waters. God I sound whiny.

Maybe not really discussion, but I really hate comments like these:

"X fans never get banned when they troll or flame, but when a Y fan makes one bad comment he is immediately banned, the moderators are biased towards X fanbase!"
