Forums - Gaming - Why so many games with bad-medicre reviews since November?

Weird, I didn't think that there would be soo many games with bad or mediocre reviews. Having a metascore from 60-70 since november. And there weren't that many releases lately.

Those I can think of are:

Knack

Ryse

Beyond two souls: I thought it would score higher.

Lightning Returns

Thief

and now it seems Castlevania LoS2 is going to score 60-70 as well

Not that a 70 is bad, I just feel that it's been a while since we saw a game score 85 or something like Tomb Rader or Ni No Kuni did last year.

Is it maybe because reviewers want something trully next gen that we see such games score a bit low?

This thread is probably a bit pointless but I' starting to worry about Dark Souls 2. I hope that doesn't dissapoint.

I'm also curious about Infamous SS.

I believe this is the pattern at the start of every gen. Devs experiment with new ideas. Some fall flat. Some become Uncharted and Assassins Creed.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with new ideas.

It has something to do with devs knowing WHO the people are that buy consoles day1 and therefore there is no need to put effort into games they will be bought regardless of effort.

Easy money for devs  unless you do this on a Nintendo system of course..

Publishers  forgot to send many dollar bags to the reviewers. It happens!

Not really sure as I did not purchase any of those games, but Infamous will break this trend. ;)

It's lack of original ideas. Ten years ago, these huge blockbuster AAA Hollywood wannabe movie/games were all the rage because they were fresh. Most of them are still good games, but there's this feeling of been there, done that imo.

Perhaps, this is a sign people are abandoning the console market :'(

I think its because the start of the gen, they all wanna start over again by appearing tougher than they are. The journalism controversy may have also played a role in it.

But they are still as biased as they were.
