I hope something saves it because it's beginning to look a lot like Wii-U... consoles in every store.

I wouldn't be surprised if Halo 5 only sold about 7 million copies lifetime, less than any main game since the original. That said, does the One need saving? Halo will definately help the system, Titanfall can be a killer app, and we are still waiting for the first real round of "casual" Kinect games that are almost certain to be in the works. These ought to keep the One at healthy levels. Not to mention the console is still yet to be released in much of the world. North America might be the core of Xboxland, but 35 million 360's were sold elsewhere. I personally expect the Xbone to reach stable and healthy levels around the release of Titanfall, in less than a month. |
Yes but Halo 4 sold faster than both 3 and Reach. In the same period of time, Halo 4 sold the most. So the franshise isn't showing any signs of decline.

Perhaps, but the critical reception wasn't quite as hot as for previous titles and that often only shows its full effects on later titles - Final Fantasy XIII is an excellent example - it sold over 7.1m units despite being sternly criticised, making it the 4th best selling entry in the series, which seems very strong, but FFXIII-2 had done only 3.2m and LR:FFXIII looks like it'll do even worse
A good illustration of how not all was well with Halo 4 is in the multiplayer player counts which declined quickly, a big problem in an AAA FPS where MP is a large part of the appeal for many people. This GAF thread explains it in plenty of detail. As you'll see there were certain unique circumstances regarding mistakes made by 343i and MS in their marketing and it was going up against COD which Halo 5 probably won't, but it still shows how Halo isn't quite the cast-iron juggurnaut it once was
It's still certiainly an important asset for Xbone, however

you and your constant halo is dying nonsense. you keep saying it and you keep being wrong.
you said for Halo 4 2012 sales: Slimebeast on 05 November 2012
No chance.
Reality : it did 7.5m
You said regarding lifetime sales Slimebeast on 05 November 2012
I've said numerous times that Halo is on a decline. I predicted a 91% Meta. I've said the competition from COD is too fierce.
Reality : Will cross 10m soon and in less time than all previous Halo's |
Good digging Kow.
Perhaps overtracked?
But I have one metric that supports my theory, and it's online match activitiy that has dropped to rock bottum for Halo 4.
Honestly, in your heart Kow, don't you too feel that Halo has become somewhat irrelevant compared to the past?
Well in my "expert" opinion I don't think the xone needs saving, but halo will help boost sales probably not as much as titanfall though unless they do something truly hype worthy with the game

No, there is no one game that suddenly lifts a console and then sustains that sia rise in hardware sales. no doubt Halo will have a big week for both software and hardware, but it won't be what keeps the XB1 afloat if sad turn-around happens
Well Halo 4 sell great because the hype(like FF13),but fans didn't like it. and the Xone install base will smaller than 360's. So halo 5 will sell great and move some consoles but will not be a 10m seller.

U went from saying PS2 outsold Xbox because of the controller, now ur saying its because it was the only reasonable choice back then.
So the people u know that own a PS3 do because of free online, thats a huge difference from ur original post saying most PS3 owners in America planned on switching to Xbox.
Both consoles require a fee for online now and PS4 is outselling Xbox, even the multiplayer heavy games like COD/BF/EA Sports titles are all selling better on PS4. What is going to change that?

Halo 4 is 9m at retail already (fastest) plus god know how many downloads, easily over 10m already is likely. |
It released on a much larger user base. It has bigger initial sales at the cost of worse legs. Instead just look at its reception.
Halo fans unanimously agree it's the worst of the main games. It has the worst metacritic of the main games. Its online community completely disappeared shortly after launch.
So you think Halo 4 made the franchise stronger?
