Forums - Nintendo - Could we see an annual $50 price cut for Wii U?

Honestly I think they should try adding a few extra pack-in games first. DLC codes for W101 and Pikmin or something. Along with NSMBU and the Luigi expansion they could boast having 4 games right out of the box. Good value.

I think it's more likely we get a $300 bundle that adds in a Pro Controller along with Gamepad -- possibly even Mario Kart 8 if Nintendo feels ambitious.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I'll probably wait till it's $200 or get it for $200 used. I'll buy the games new to support their first party regardless though I must say they're dicks about price cuts on their games. I guess only coming out with 1 per gen lets you keep the prices high though.

It appears Gamecube was sold at a loss as well.

I don't think so. It seems the hardware is already pretty streamlined meaning reduction of costs of goods is a lot harder. Then you consider almost 1/2 of this cost is the gamepad which seems less likely to also dramatically come down.

I think Nintendo pigeon-holed themselves in terms of pricing.

Nope, $200 this year.

i would guess we see double bundles first. nsmbu and 3dworld for 249. or bundle with a wii mode plus and a gamepad.

I think a 50$ price cut would be great news for the WiiU. When the deluxe system was on sale at 250 the past christmas it sold out pretty much everywhere in store here.

Plausible, but who knows. This is Nintendo. Unexpected weirdness is sort of their thing.
