Chubear makes many many decent points in this thread, and quite frankly, i hope wii fanboys dont come around here with theyre two cents, which are usually the same lame data facts or catchphrases that theyve been using since the beginning.

Ps3 sold 10 million, against all odds, and that is what counts, and thats a fact. The Wii sold bucket loads, costing little, and with people just buying it because it was "fresh" to have it (a good deal of my friends are like this, meaning buying it to enjoy wii sports a little, and then poof, magically the wii catches dust and is never touched, now i know a couple of my friends arent a comparable data chart for the world, but i have a feeling many people had this state of mind).

Xbox had god knows how much time to install a huge market share, and in some sense they did conquer one market, the States, but have once again proved a lack of senses in the asian market (forseeable for any non-japanese company), and a "snobby" attitude towards europe, once again, like usual...so i honestly dont see how Microsoft didnt manage to grasp even more market.

Well, this is truely a landmark day for the PS3.  I recall a fair few people in August last year stating that the PS3 would struggle to sell 6m by the end of the year and would find it hard to sell 10m whatsoever.

Anyway, the PS3 HAS sold 10m units worldwide and has done it in a much quicker way than the 360.

I will not proclaim that the PS3 will have more units WW than the 360 by the end of this year or beat out the Qii by the end of 2009.  But what Chubear is saying rings of the truth about what could happen.  I have no doubt that the PS3 will beat out the 360 in Europe and Others...it will have not bother in doing this.  Japan is a runaway as well.  It's NA where the 360 is holding firm, and the PS3 is struggling to overcome the huge amount of 360's....this can change though.

The Wii is s weird one though.  I reckon it's widely thought that a large number of Wii owners WILL buy a proper Next Gen system (360 or PS3) over the course, so these people could start choosing the PS3....well in Japan, they will choose the PS3 rather than the 360 and it's looking that way in Europe as well.

What a BS little excuse. First, the Xbox360 shortage was over before it reached 10 million. Once the shortage is over, it's relevance to overall LTD sales numbers is non-existant: No shortage = everyone who wants one has one. Second, even if that weren't the case, that's still 4 months longer that it took MS to put consoles into people's hands. Incompetence at manufacturing and pushing out your product is not an excuse.

The only foolishness here is your being upsety-poo at the numbers. The sooner you face reality, the easier it'll be.

I have honestly never seen any sort of shortage here in Europe, well at least in my countries, Italy, Switzerland and France...The only time i had somewhat of a problem was to get my Elite, but even then i managed to find one in a store after what, a whole three hours of looking.

PS3 never really had shortage either, although when i asked my girlfriend to buy me one in the states (at the time where there was the 60 gb and 20gb) she did have trouble finding one
