It would be too difficult to do that now.

1.  Currently you must use the gamepad to use your Wii U (you can't turn off the gamepad as it also turns the console off!) and every game supports it in some way.

2.  Doing a Wii U without a gamepad isn't as simple as you lot think.

3.  The gamepad was a part of the what drew me to Wii U as it made the console unique to the competition.

4.  Anyway, you lot can make as many threads on this as you like but Nintendo won't change a thing. Deal with it.

1.  No, you don't.  You can turn on the system and play Mario just fine with a Wiimote without touching the Gamepad.  Yes, the GP does turn on as well, but there's nothing that Ninty couldn't patch to fix any inconsistencies.  And unless your talking about off-TV play, DKCTF says Hi with its black screen while you play.

2.  Why not?  The two main issues - splitting the userbase and the UI - are addressed in the OP, so what else is there?

3.  Fair enough for you personally, but it's sure not selling the console at the moment.  At least not at its current price, and Nintendo can't lower the price without dropping the GP.  And the console still has one big unique feature - Nintendo exclusives - just like the Gamecube did.  Difference is, GC was priced right... and so far, is tracking much higher in sales aligned.

4.  Lol, I'm still waiting for links to this massive abundance of "Should Ninty add a GP-less SKU" threads here on the Chartz.  Particularly from a Nintendo fan like myself who was a big advocate for not separating the GP until recently.  This "lot" would like to see evidence of this.

i like how he says deal with it, like Ninty isnt the one losing money and market share on the damn thing

I have a WiiU and voted yes because I need a new gamepad. I need them to start selling them separately. The left analog stick is acting up and it's out of warrenty already. I don't want to miss it for weeks shipping it off for some overpriced repair.

damn that sucks

That sucks. Good thing most Wii U games allow you to use the Pro Controller and Wii's classic controller. Or i hope so.

Indeed.  I already own and enjoy my WiiU, but I don't own any Nintendo stock and I'm not under their employ.  As a fan, I'd just like to see them better themselves.

The only one "dealing with it" is Nintendo.

Yup. It still works but occasionally is slow to respond or doesn't stop going. It was a pain in Windwaker HD jumping from flower to flower up the deku tree and onto swinging ropes. It would be nice if Nintendo can make a sleeker designed gamepad with better battery life.

U really expect someone to take the time to go back and find all the threads on this topic? They are exaggerating the number it has been brought up on multiple occassions every since Wii U started selling poorly around this time last year.

Absolutely.  Links or they didn't happen...

No, seriously, I'm sure there have been threads on this topic; probably more frequent around this time a year ago when the WiiU's sales really started to go south.  Heck, I probably commented in them myself and was no doubt steadfastly against the idea that I'm now proposing.

Truthfully though, I haven't seen any lately, nor do I remember any from people who were big Nintendo fans.  And as I went to great lengths to illustrate in my OP, despite really liking the Gamepad myself, I have had a change of heart on the matter when we face the inevitable and what needs to be done.  It's like a big XB1 fan stepping forward and announcing that they truly believe that Kinect should not be a mandatory inclusion - especially when they once thought the opposite.  I'd be more inclined to hear them out if they're actually a fan of the company and had their well being in mind rather than, say, someone on the other side of the fence.

What irks me are the people who accuse this of being a hate thread or the laughable "Deal with it" retort... as if I'm whining or bitching about it just to rile people up or something, lol.  Nintendo doing better is my concern, not trolling them, and I think that I clarified that sentiment in my OP enough to warrant a discussion that extends beyond that line of thinking.

Ya I dont recall when the last time this topic was brought up and personally I dont mind that its often repeated, its not like this is the only topic gets brought up over and over.

And u have to used to it by now that people will only read the title and comment, I mean really who has time to read the OP in this day and age?

Im in the same boat as u, I like the Gamepad just having it for off TV play/maps/inventory is enough for me but I can also see why someone would feel thats not enough to justify the higher price. I think Nintendo is going to try and push the upcoming NFC game as a killer app that needs the Gamepad so I think they should tough it out until then but if that fails to do much then I say make it optional.

Why not make it optional with a DKC bundle considering that game doesn't use it at all?

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Mostly because I really think that want the NFC game to be a big killer app that shows the Gamepad is a must have. If they release a Gamepad less sku before the game releases than it will fragment the userbase.

8gb Wii U w/Motion Plus+Wii Sports Club pre installed-$199

32gb Wii U w/Pro Controller+DKC Tropical Freeze-$249

64gb Wii U w/Gamepad+Mario Kart 8-$299

Of they do decide to cut the Gamepad than these would be nicw bundles.
