Last gen doesn't count, Wii artificially inflates the numbers due to the 80-90 million non gamer install base.

It's what we gamers call a "wrinkle" right?

I think lifetime if were judging solely on PS4, Xbox One and Wii U we can expect something similar to the PS2 generation - 200 to 225 Million lifetime.

100-120 Million for PS4
40-60 Million for Xbox One
20-30 Million for Wii U

I think as things currently are in the industry, those are fair early predictions.

Pretty much smack on with my own current predictions for the gen. Though I can see Wii U doing slightly better than that... maybe 35m tops.

So it's really Nintendo's fault for not making a true successor to the Wii because we all knew Sony and Microsoft were less likely to do so.


Its funny cause during the gen, people would complain that the Wii was for casuals and demanded a more hardcore system. Funny how it works.

I also believe this Gen will be considerably smaller, but if PS4 (and potentially XBO) play their cards right, they can still be viable platforms. Sadly, I see no hope for WiiU or handhelds. I hope I am wrong!

GTA and MGS came out on PS2, then got ported to other platforms. They weren't day and date on anything else.

Imagine Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy XV, Metal Gear Solid V, Grand Theft Auto VI, Tekken 7, Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 7  and many others as PS4 exclusives.... Oh man.... I would buy a PS4 in a frickin heartbeat and I imagine many other people would do the exact same thing. ( only if those games would be good of course)

We are sadly going downhill from here. The influx of all these microconsoles are the raven whose flight will be the auger for the end of the console market. You can blame sony for not holding on to its spot as market leader during the seventh gen. You can blame Nintendo for the influx of casuals,

Doesn't matter, the industry is on the way down. There is nothing we can do except ride it out and continue to enjoy them. All you fanboys out there were wasting your time.

Ya that was my point. The PS2 had that and that is why it dominated the way it did. The GC had SSBM and Mario Kart as their 2 main draws (other really good games too.)
