Forums - Nintendo - You are Iwata in Dec. 2013 and you realize that there are no games for 2014

Thinking about it... i suppose they were conting on Ubisoft to release Watch dogs during that window and got the cold feet as usual (just like they did with Rayman legends last year).

Their problem? To think Ubi soft is gonna do them any favors. Solution? Buy Ubi soft. It would give Nintendo alot of strengths for their weaknesses. But, looking at how Nintendo faced the new Nintendo direct... i am starting to doubt Iwata aswell. I'm thinking he doesnt have what it takes to turn the situation around. We need to see more agressiveness to turn the situation around.

Either that or they are holding their cards for E3.

To be completely honest, i am not sure Nintendo has the staff to support a handheld and an HD system. Theres some games coming this year, but notice how one is developed by Platinum, the other by monolith, DK coming from Retro and SEGA pitching in another Sonic game. Nintendo themselves dont seem to have enough resources to support the Wii U. They seriously need to buy some more studios. And i get the feeling they are afraid to do such investments.

I mean... not even Sony with all their studios working on PS4 seems to be able to deliver one title every month. Nintendo cant count on third parties though, so either they strike deals or outright buy some developers to increase their output.

I would do this

Ask MS and Sony nicely for their IPs in exchange for Nintendo's hostages.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Does anyone in the west even care about Dragon Quest X or Wii sports club? What I would have done is release MK8 in april, Beyonatta 2 in may, Hyrule Warriors in July/August, Smash Bros in September, Yoshi's Yarn in October and X in November and whatever unannounced game in December

Not many games sell in e3 at all so nothing in June

I would love to play Dragon Quest X and release an unfinished game ? really ? we talk about Nintendo not EA or Activision

Problem with DQX is that MMOs cost a lot to upkeep and you have a really hard time getting, especially, non-Japanese to subscribe to anything anymore. On paper it's a good idea, in practice bringing DQX over would be a disaster for all involved parties

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Nem, could you elaborate on that?

He decided to delay the already finished DKC three months.

I remember Nintendo said they would offer a lot of great games during the 2nd half of 2013 to make up for an abysmal 1st half. DKC was supposed to be the second biggest of those games. Nintendo realized they obviously couldn't keep this promise because they wouldn't have anything for the next 5 months, so they delayed it to fill a gap during the next drought.

Guess it was their best option, but the Wii U is never going to get any momentum at this pace.

I would:

1. Cut my salary by %50 in exchange for my bad projections. Which, to the moderately observant, will show that I'm taking this issue very seriously.

The only way you could realize it so late is if a). you smoked crack, every day, for the last 3 years or b). you took heroin, every day, for the last 3 years.

There was no excuse for Sony, for lack of games, back in the days, for the PS3. There is no excuse now for the Vita drought. And the same goes for Nintendo.

You cant simply turn things around. Quality software needs longer development time, and no last minute plan will do much good in the long run.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

The direct didnt really push any ground for the Wii U. Yeah we got some new footage of Bayonetta 2 and X wich was awesome, but Wii U needs momentum. This was the time to reveal one more mature game to add to those two. I think it was the perfect time to reveal a new Metroid Prime (even a teaser would have been enough). They would save Zelda for E3, but they needed to have revealed a clear trio of must have games to gain some momentum.

During the ND, the vibe i got was that Iwata was conformed to what he was showing and there was no need to talk about anything else (like the Wii U issues arent there). They had lots of new 3DS projects, but nothing new on the Wii U front. Also, theres nothing really announced for 2015 yet. Even if it was a 2015 fall release, it would've been helpful to kick the doom articles in the face with a new metroid. But, the feeling i get is that Nintendo just doesnt have enough resources to change the situation. We have been talking about the same games since last year.

Heck, it would've been enough to just announce more Wii and GC stuff coming to eshop. Load up those Wii U's with games. Not just do nothing except some new footage of what we knew was coming changes anything. The Nintendo results were in in january, the Wii U was slammed and Nintendo's answer was: Nothing. I cant help but feel disappointed by that.
