Forums - Sales Discussion - WiiU down YOY in every region, weekly sales are off

Why not create a thread saying that Xbox One's numbers are way off?
But to stay on-topic, yes Wii U seems to be selling less than expected, but i'd say it's more than 30k( even though not by much) i'd think 8.5 japan, 15k NA( U.S.A, Canada Mexico), and Eu plus others to be around 11-12 k so that brings it to 35, such a shame, Nintendo needs to get its act back together, and so does Microsoft for that matter.

Thank you Uncle Scrooge for making sense of everything its not WiiU its every console or handheld. Like I predicted PS4 is only doing well because of the mass advertising and that's not even helping. I hate all the shit talk on Nintendo like its failing its called a free market there are hills and valleys.

huh, i dont think iv seen any Ps4 commercials in some time.  There were plenty doring xmas but quite barren since then.

i did see a PS4 logo on the boards of a nhl game, is that what you mean by mass advertising ?

And if sales is as easy as marketing, then solution for MS and ninty is rather basic and easy to implement.  Thus PS4 like sales are coming soon, they are just an ad away.

All the numbers are off, there is an NPD thread for that! There are no YOY comparisons either, or Japan numbers. Basically it would consist of "Xbox One overtracked in US" that's all there is. Couldn't figure this out yourself?

Canada and Mexico are 10% of the NA market, if it's averaging 12k (probably less towards the end of Jan, the first half is more frontloaded due to xmas residue) then the average is probably 13k there. Japan is at 8k and dropping. Europe is nowhere near on par with US. Did you not see how it fared there last year? It was getting negative shipments, and Nintendos own charts showed us it's way under US.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's already under 30k.

Mass advertising.... are you seriously going to imply that Sony advertised more than MS, or what is that supposed to mean? Also it's not helping? Gee that's weird, I thought the console was still supply constrained in January and was the best selling console and sold better than the PS3 in its first January (which was 5 week month).

And yes it's a free market and Nintendo is failing to get its attention, the console market hasn't crashed (console not handheld) it's just that MS and Nintendo have failed to provide a product that has enough appeal to pull in decent January numbers. Pricecuts and all the games it's going to get will probably change this for the X1, the Wii U doesn't have that much room for pricecuts nor a wide enough array of games coming out to ever make the console really popular.

Who are these new Nintendo defense force members? Alt of people who are to embarassed because of their prediction to appear again or banned people (because they just talked crap)?

Holy shit the denial is strong in this thread, vgchartz will have Wii U adjusted down by the time next weeks numbers release.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I doubt WiiU is under 8k in Japan with DK: TF releasing there, also U.S.A is more like 85% not 90( but se are arguing for such small numbers here). Eu could be worse, but it could also be better we shall have to wait for confirmation on that.
I just said why not XbOne because you're saying that the weekly sales are giving us false hope for WiiU, the same could be said for XbOne, could it not?

Right now, it's more like a bottomless pit though...

PS4 is doing quite well, really. We can't say for sure yet (it's supply constraint and there's still some pent-up demand) but it should be doing fine. Not Wii numbers but Sony's consoles tend to sell well for longer periods of time.

Also, while Xbox One is doing bad right now Microsoft won't shy away from putting money into it. I'm certain we'll have a Kinect-less Xbox at the end of this year and they'll drop the price aggressively even if that kills off their profitability. They'll do everything (even turning Bill Gates into a hooker) to get that console back on track. Microsoft's problems are long-term: If they lose yet another few billion dollars investors might start an uproar but again, that's long-term problems.

I'm most concerend about Nintendo (my favorite console maker!) right now: It took them a long time to learn from the 3D(S) disaster and they seem to cling to the gamepad despite no one wanting it. They also had to re-allocate resources to the 3DS while underestimating HD dev costs, hence the game drought on the Wii U. At its current sales pace there's no way for smaller games (Yarn Yoshi, Kirby, Bayonetta, X) to cover dev costs and make a profit. This will most likely end in a Gamecube-like situation with the console getting nothing but token support after year 2. I still remember the Cube's last two years... *shivers* So yeah, it's less about sales per se but rather what it means for software profitability on the console. Microsoft won't have that problem as most games will be multiplatform.

Lol you guys are sad very sad. Nintendo has never been number one since PlayStation or Xbox came into the picture and yet here they are still doing it the RIGHT way to make profits. They dont bow down to developers like EA or Ubisoft. They have more individual first party franchises then Xbox or PS combined. So when they have down years they survive and keep innovating.

Well putting xbone doom threads are riskier than wiiu ones. I just hope you aren't implying that seece have fanboyish intentions because even though he is a strong supporter (like the shipped x360 > ps3) he is no apologist.
