ZyroXZ2 said: I have to roll my eyes at the "unconfirmed specs" of the PS4's RAM being questionable, but the somehow solid, concrete, "unconfirmed specs" of the Wii U being "proof"... hahaha The alarming part is the poll results. They're both good and bad: the good is that it's clear the majority think that the Wii U has been slanted unfavorably by media and public perception; the bad is that the length of this thread says people will stubbornly refuse to accept the Wii U as part of the current gen alongside the PS4/XBox1. The Wii U is here to stay, and will do what it does best: bring unique, high-quality games that don't cater to the modern "hardcore gamer", but instead the kid in all of us that forgets about what's "cool", and what "everyone else" is playing in favor of putting a smile and a sense of unbridled joy that comes from Nintendo's purebred creativity unaffected by the drive of profits in the modern business world. |
The difference between the "unconfirmed specs" in the PS4 and WiiU is that the PS4 RAM spec is based on a single rumour. The WiiU spec rumours are based on hardware breakdowns (physical pics), inferences based on the knowledge of the architectures used and information garnered from hackers. Basically there are more information sources from which to make conclusions and even then the conclusions are still a "range" of specs unless Nintendo come out with the full truth (not going to happen).

You realise that everything Nintendo does is for profits? There's a good reason they iterate on Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Zelda, Mario etc. with every generation. It may align with your sense of fun but its not for everyone.

And that's something I just wrote about in a blog post later, that's not entirely correct.
Nintendo knows it needs money to survive, but a close look at a company's behavior patterns and statements can give you the underlying message. Nintendo wants to just make games, they won't want to have to compete with Sony/Microsoft, they don't want to have to spend billions on hardware and graphics engines to lure "hardcore gamers" because it sells well, they don't even want to be mainstream (clearly). Nintendo has success and they know a familiar face brings people back, but if there ever was a company that seemed the LEAST interested in doing things for money, it would be Nintendo.
