This is the problem with news sites these days.
Apparently Gamestop have been doing this price since launch... unfortunately media sites have only noticed (apparently because it was mentioned on GAF). Journalism eh...lol
Curious to lower the price of something that is guaranteed to sell unless the model is to get people in and buy peripherals and games there as well.

As the guy said, this is individual stores rather than Sony. It is a marketing ploy to help gain attention for that particular company and hope to gain some more customers and make the money back on future purchases with that brand. Looks like a clever idea seeing as it is clearly getting some attention.
and plus they also mentioned that this store also give the xbox 1 a price drop! how did the person not c this info as well?

Gamestop UK have larger companies to compete with, they hold no ground on even the over priced GAME, to me they are just trying to get new customer and regular ones too. This price, as well as the controller for £40 have been like this since before the console was launched. Games are priced well also.

Hmm, pie.
They just want to gain a name in the UK. Gamestop is practically nonexistent there, they only just opened a website in 2011, but most people use the good old ones.

Yup, hit the nail on the head
They haven't gained any significant market share since they got here, so they're trying to seize the opportunity
Obviously not selling well. They lower the price to get rid of the last ones in their warehouse to have room for products that actually sell.
