Forums - Gaming Discussion - Great character designs in gaming?

Quite honestly, most characters in gaming shade to the forgettable side.  Many are shallow, cliche, or a combination of the two.  Have there been any characters that have stuck in your mind well after the game is over?  That you think are excellent examples of character design in one or more areas?

These are a few of my favorites.

Saber.  From an artistic stance, her design is just awesome.  As a character, she is very complex, even contradictory.  She is strong and stubborn but also unsure of herself.  She deperately wants to experience the aspects of living that she missed but she is prepared to sacrifice herself for the sake of others.

Handsome Jack.  A fantastic villain.  An egotistical psychopath, sure, but he's clever and has a sharp sense of humor.

Morrigan.  Best character in Dragon Age, in my opinion.  Hard to explain her situation without spoilers.  She's trying to break free from the destiny laid out for her.  She's sarcastic and intolerant but it's interesting to watch her grow as a person.

Pikachu.  No explaination necessary.

You’ll have to explain why Pikachu is great character design. It's a yellow mouse with a lighting bolt shaped tail. And it used to be really fat to boot.

All SFIV characters. Love that art style.
