But as overall characters that I'm glad I knew, there are quite a few actually. To name some: Solid Snake, Liquid, Frank Yaeger, Ocelot (and more from MGS) Laguna Loire, Celes Chere (and more from Final Fantasy) Luca Blight, Sierra and Nanami from Suikoden It's a shame not one character from Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft captivated me. Sony is average, Nintendo's simple stories don't help shaping characters enough. And Microsoft is horridly uninspired to me. |
Celes is one of my favorite characters in all of gaming. She had a fantastic story. Luca Blight was an awesome villain, one of the best. Sierra was extremely interesting, wish I could have learned more about her, and Nanami ... let's just say I started S2 over when I was nearly finished just because of her. Wow, now I really miss Suikoden. Damn it.
Chris Lightfellow was another excellent Suikoden character, not to mention Yuber and Sarah and ...
Such a good series.

See the entire Mass Effect universe for a referendum on great character design

It's kind of upsetting when great games don't get the recognition they deserve. I imagine with Final Fantasy like budget coupled with luck, Suikoden could've been extremely huge. |
TONS of questions are left unanswered. It's an absolutely shame.
S3 was excellent, though different. S4 was the problem, as the game wasn't finished when it was released, so there are lots of rough patches. S5 was really good, though.
They really dropped the ball with Suikoden. So much potential.
