-heavy : The general consensus is that it's surprisingly light. "How much does this giant Wii U GamePad weight and how does it feel in your hands? After getting some hands-on time with it at Nintendo’s E3 booth, I am happy to report that the Wii U GamePad is incredibly light. In fact, according to a Nintendo representative, it weighs “about one pound”.
I know it’s easy to hear “one pound” and think that’s heavy, but it’s actually really light and, despite its rectangular shape, quite comfortable in your hands."
-gamepads analog sticks are short and the tension is way too high, which makes games like need for speed difficult to control No. The Wii U controller's analog sticks are exactly the same as the ones on the Pro Controller--which is comparable (in my opinion, quite favorably) to both the 360 and PS3's controllers. The tension is a matter of opinion but I just tried it. It's about as tight as a 360 controller and tighter than a PS3 controller.
-horrible battery Well, yeah...but it's doing a lot of things.
-SD screen, at minimum, Nintendo should of put 720p on it. Matter of opinion. Due to its small size, games actually look quite sharp on the game pad. Yeah, it could always be sharper but it's fine. No blurring. Vivid color.
-Resistive touch screen, makes using the screen with both thumbs at the same time impossible, waste. Works great for me from the games I've played. Resistive touch screen hasn't hurt the 3DS experience, has it? -sound volume on the gamepad is EXTREMELY low. No. It's pretty loud.
-dpad placement is horrible Matter of opinion. Unlike you, I've used it. It's fine. I go from PS3 to 360 to Wii U without missing a beat. It's in the same place as the 360 configuration so....yeah.
-edit cannot turn off screen while streaming movies without a wiimote, wierd. Does not auto turn off. True. I just leave it on the cradle. The screen will dim but it won't turn off...unless you take it out of range of the console. Then, it will auto turn off.
-Gamepad mode- sometimes you'll have major lag. Probably due to interference but Nintendo should of took this into account. Not once in my entire life have I experienced any sort of lag on the Wii U, ever. I Googled it and I only found a few instances of people saying something about a frame or two in Virtual Console games. I found more results saying that the Wii U controller has LESS lag than many HDTVs.
I'm glad to know you feel this way. Now I know to add you to my list of people who are full of buuuuuuuuull shit.
how about debunking his claims instead of saying hes full of shit, cause otherwise you look like the one who is actually full of it and just defending something that might be true although negative which is probably worse.
Go to 1:50
Anyway, debunk I shall. Look up, my friend.
you didnt debunk anything, most of what was said was simply opinions. YOu cant debunk his opinion, if the doesnt like it its perfectly fine and gave reasons to not like it. You just countered with either "I dont mind" or "works for me" hardly an argument. You cant call someone's opinions BS. THats IGN nonsense.
Im not responding hellovgc, but im here to say you took the bait too easy. You know, the problem with most internet forums is that there is always someone that will bring a "shitpost", let me explain
a "shitpost" is a post that is not relevant or has low quality/content, and has little to no argument to be supported (more than maybe "opinion"). This post is made with the purpose to piss off people, or just the purpose to get some attention (see: attention whore) and even sometimes it might come with some reasonable arguments so its not too obvius
This concludes in the post of Mr. hellovgc, wich is disguised as merely opinion, but if we look further we can find things that are not true, independently of the observer: heavy, laggy, or even problem in the analogs that are technically the same than other controllers are the "pissing off" commentaries, then comes the subjetively fine commentaries, such as the dpad placement, the gamepad volume being "extremely" low (i find the volume OK) or the auto turn off thing, and finally the reasonable ones so the post wont get automatically moderated: Baterry, resistive screen and resolution
If we want a this to be a better site for discussing games as a whole, the best thing to do is to ignore such post and go on as if it didnt exist. Whats my point with all this? i am not really old in vgz, but this isnt the first time i see some fine shitposting over the site with dozens of users falling for it, and it would be better for everyone if we stopped taking baits: stop responding to shitposting, please.

IMHO that just hurts your case. The wrong games? if it so awesome then it should be good for ALL if not MOST of the games. You kind of admitted it isnt, so it cant be that awesome?
It is good for all games. It's just awesome for some of them that use the touchscreen. As a bog standard controller it's just as capable as the 360 controller and DS3/4, but when developers use the touchscreen - whether it's using it to display a full map at all times to save you from interrupting your game by pressing a button to display it on your telly every time you want to see it, whether it's to ease inventory handling, whether it's to create increased immersion by having computer displays/literature/hacking mini-games on it, whether it's to keep the telly screen clear of HUD items which makes the game more cinematic or whether it's for Off-TV Play which means your missus can watch crappy reality telly without interrupting your gaming - it's by far the best controller seen in years.

Fair enough. My opinion vs his....but I'm willing to bet he hasn't used one. Personally, I don't care if people like it or not. If he said the rumble was weaker than a baby kitten or the triggers were digital instead of analog, I would agree. As it stands, I think he is just posting stuff he saw on the internet or totally making stuff up. The Wii U's analog sticks aren't 3DS analog nubs, for example. In your opinion, is an iPod heavy? That's how much a Wii U controller weighs. Either way, I'll drop it. You guys pwned me.
It wasnt may intention to own perse just pointing out the descrepancy . He could have went online but couldnt ANYONE do that? for a good or bad? I didnt find the thing heavy myself, but I lift so yeah.
I meant mentioning stuff he didn't experience like when we had PS4 owners swearing that cross game chat on the Xbox One didn't work (despite the fact that it works great) simply because they read it somewhere. If his opinion were based on experience, I would just nod my head and move on. Like I have with any number of "Wii U controller sucks" posts in this thread or many others.
I love it. It's not just a gimmick but makes gaming more convenient. It improves the experience. I like to play directly on the gamepad when my eyes get tired staring at a 40 inch hdtv. I can play lying down in bed after work. As a 27 year old gamer i couldn't ask for anything more
I have thousands of dollars in the bank, sorry Wii u.
U get zero monies from me.
Every 8th gen console gets no money until they release REALLY GOOD GAMES.
Which not one has done yet.
GTA5, TLoU, Red Dead Redemtion, Dark Souls series & FFXIII trilogy is better/more fun to play than everything released so far on the 8th gen, and that's just scratching the surface.
I love the gamepad. Aside from the low battery life and digital triggers its nigh on perfect. Off screen is great for my shared tv, and also for when I fancy playing something light with the tv on in the background. I've also realised it's going to be very useful for when my baby arrives (that felt weird to type, only just found put we're expecting).
The key thing with the gamepad is that it's a tool kit for developers to play with. Not every game needs to use everything, but those options are there if they want to take advantage of them. If Nintendo do a version without the pad it'll kill those options.

fair enough, but isnt that the one of the main issues is that devs are using it for nothing more than a standard controller for most of the games?
Edit: i dont have to worry about sharing a TV with anyone so the off tv play does nothing for me

I prefer the Pro controller far more.Great design and excellent battery life, now that´s an awesome controller.
The mandatory use of the Gamepad in Mario 3D World diminishes my enjoyment with the game.I´m perfectly fine playing with the Pro controller, and all of a sudden the game demands that I use the thing, and for what?..just to touch some frickin platforms and blow into the mic...get outta here. And those Toad levels, why oh why do I have to use it?...just to tilt the controller in order to move the camera....oh wait, but you can also just use the right analog stick, which is actually the preferred method.
I´m so glad DKC has no mandatory use of the pad.
Wow. That sounds beyond gimmicky. As a Wii U owner, You think they should just drop the Gamepad at this point?
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Well, it´s been a little over a year since the system launched and they still can´t figure out anything that truly justifies the controller...the biggest IPs don´t even do anything clever or interesting with it...DKC doesn´t even display anything on the Gamepad screen if you play it on your TV.
If it´s gonna be like that, then by all means they should drop it.Iwata has recently said that justifying the Gamepad is their top priority this year. We´ll see..personally, I´m not hopeful they´ll manage to pull it off in a way that causes the system to suddenly do a 180 and turn around its fortunes.
And about Mario 3D World..yeah, it´s that gimmicky.Let me tell you, it´s very annoying that the game makes you switch controllers just to do that..if you don´t, you can´t proceed. That´s the extension of the Gamepad´s usefulness in the game. It´s like the developers just said "fuck it, we can´t think of anything interesting, but we have to justify some use of the Gamepad, so here it is anyway"
there would be one big problem if they sell the wii u without the gamepad. What should they do with the games which are already available ? You can not play ZombiU without the gamepad. There would be no inventory. you could not play all games in Wii Party U. no I think the gamepad is a good Idea, nintendo just needs games which can show the potential
They're balls deep with the gamepad to toss it. The whole system was designed with the gamepad in mind. It's what separates them from the competition, except it's also their worst enemy as they don't have compelling software to make people really want it.
If switching screens so people can watch tv is the highlight of the gamepad, boy o boy Nintendo is in for a rough generation.
