Forums - Microsoft - What's so great about Titanfall?

You just accused me of a "cherrypick" because you too believe that TF will be great because West and Zampella are making it and you didn't like my point that showed that that may not be the case.

There are people looking forward to Titanfall in spite of being made by the CoD team. It seems like a more interesting product than a military shooter, I think you can agree with that.

I have never said TF will be great or even implied, but I'm certainly willing to give it a try before pissing on peoples parades like yourself.

Ultimately, if I don't like the beta I probably won't buy the game.

and yet, contributors like you are keeping the thread alive by saying how great the game will be and providing your various evidences. If people just created threads to bash the game, and you guys ignored it, they wouldn't have visibility.

Can you show where I said the game was great or even implied it? I just don't recall doing that.

Perhaps people should ignore those threads. Perhaps mods should close those threads. Perhaps some people should stop trolling. A lot of blame to go around.

Your approval was not sought or required. This is a thread about Titanfall, I merely expressed my view on it.

And I merely expressed my view on people that go into threads with zero interest of the topic.

Fun fact, I don't go in many Nintendo threads because I don't really give a shit about Nintendo. If I commented in those threads I would just be a nuisance.

Meh, don't take it so personally. There are many people that share comments on topics they have no interest in. That's like... the basis of the interweb.

If this was a read of people sharing their excitement and happiness for the game, I would have stayed out, but the thread was established from the start as being open to dissent.

But my original comment was to the guy who said "the pedigree of the developer in making FPS". So your reply about people buying TF in spite of being made by the CoD team is moot. Plus, the comment was essentially to keep things realistic. "Pedigree of the developer in making X" shouldn't be a talking point because there's examples of those same people "of pedigree" putting up stinkers. Hell, Square Enix has the same people but FF has gone downhill since FFX. How is that "pissing on people's parades"?

You're right, it didn't get a bunch of E3 awards (I don't think), but TF is also the first "big" Xbone game and an "intro to next gen" as some would say. That would warrant it as one of the best games at E3 considering not much else was shown at E3 for the PS4 or XBone. Whereas an E3 where Haze was shown (2007) was the year of Halo 3, Uncharted, CoD4, The Orange Box, Crysis, Rock Band, Mass Effect, and more. That's some stiff competition.

Not to take away from TFs success at E3, but keep things in perspective. When the only competition at E3 for TF was launch games, Second Son, and Destiny and TF at least looks good, since they had gameplay footage....of course it's gonna get "Best of the Show", "Best Gameplay", etc. awards.

But there's still examples of people who did a hands on preview, praising the game (from the same multiplayer demo that was available to everyone else, not some press only early review copy).

http://www.videogamer.com/ps3/haze/preview-840-2.html

Infamous is the first "big" PS4 game and an "intro into next gen" and yet even with the bad press MS was getting at the time of E3, Infamous didn't clean house at the event. It won 10 awards AFAIK. The competition Haze was facing is irrelevant. If the game was great, it would generate buzz. The only reason it got any buzz at all is because it was dubbed a Halo killer by someone. Hell, in those 3 links you provided, only one seems to really have anything positive to say about the game, the others are generic previews. On the other hand you can find loads of hands on impressions for Titanfall that are gushing with praise. And, of course, you can find tons of impressions and videos from actual gamers from the alpha who also confirm the game is simply amazing. Haze is a different story altogether.

Your theory that Titanfall dominated E3 awards simply because there was nothing else there is pretty much destroyed by the continuous coverage and praise sung since E3. At the same time, Haze being irrelevant at E3 because of games like CoD or Mass Effect or Halo doesn't explain why it continued to be pretty much ignored after E3 and up to release (and after release, since it was hot garbage).

If you don't like multiplayer fps then you wouldn't understand why there's so much hype. The E3 gameplay brought something new to the table and when all the journalists were able to play it they loved it. Then fans played it at PAX, Gamescom, Tokyo Game Show and they loved it. Then more fans played during the alpha and they loved it. The gameplay is fun, simple as that. People kept saying COD was the same year after year but when Respawn changes everything up, haters say its still COD. When it is far more fun than the same run and gun bs.

The Xbox area of shibuya yodobashi camera has titanfall gameplay on loop in the screens in that area, you would think it would get the mech loving Japanese flocking to it, but the entire isle was empty except for one random dude picking up a discounted copy of gal gun, hype train clearly serves only the US and select areas of Europe, because it sure as hell isn't getting any juices flowing here.

And if japan doesnt approve of mechs, saying "mechs done right" is laughable.

Why would the Xbox aisle be full if neither Titanfall or Xbox One is out?
