Never bought a Vaio. Each time I went shopping around for laptops, the Vaio were always way too expensive for what you got.

I read about this yesterday. Lenovo has been on a spending spree lately buying IBM's business and then Motorolla from Google. But Lenovo is already the largest maker of pc's. so what's the point of buying Vaio? Also, Sony should be getting rid of their TV's as well!

Can't stay profitable when the divisions don't make any money. This is actually a good move.

As an electronics company, it is a sign of weakness instead of trying to rejuvinate it. The TV line too. Selling off buildings is one thing, but cutting off your own limbs is a slippery slope. |
A sign of weakness? Sony is not doing well and they need to sell off liabilities. They're trying not to go bankrupt. No one believes that Sony is currently a strong company.
its nice to see sony down size and cut off the slackers for better future

Wow, nice. Looks like Kaz is finally getting serious about cutting the fat.
Hopefully they'll have their TV division under control soon too. And with the game division largely fixed for the foreseeable future... Looks like Sony might be saved?

They're losing a lot of money. "A sign of weakness" is for healthy company like Samsung or Google; Sony has been doing shit for the past decade and they have to cut their losses or risk going out of business.
No problem, they need to focus on profitable businesses only
