I see it now. But I still think that shows it's the red headed stepchild. It released in the holiday season, and sold less than the $200 xl model. I still say that if they sell the real 3d base model and the xl cheap, sales will jump up substantially. Something like, $99-$119 for the base 3ds and $149 for the xl. I just think people want the real 3ds with the 3d capability, that's why the $200 model is still the best seller. I mean hell, the 3ds is till going for $170-$200 after 3 years! Anyway, I enjoyed our back and forth, thanks! That's why I finally signed up! To have some good conversations, civil conversations. Talk to you later, sir.

No problem and im glad u joined for good reasons, it seems that alot of people join to talk up there console of choice and trash others. Theres something else I want to add to our conversation before u go.

Ur right in theory a hefty price cut on the original 3DS and XL would likely give a nice boost, the first price cut was 2.5 years ago and the XL released 1.5 years ago so a price cut seems like it should be right around the corner. In reality tho a price cut just simply isnt an option for Nintendo right now. Nintendo is expecting to post a loss this fiscal year and Wii U is still being sold at a loss, they need the 3DS/XL to remain at there current prices in order to help offset these losses.

Thats why I believe they released the 2DS in the first place, a price cut on the other models isnt possible but they needed a lower entry point to prevent sales from stagnating too much so they released a bare bones entry level sku. At the very earliest I can see a price cut in late summer/early fall to something like 2DS $99, 3DS $129-139, XL $149-169. This will give sales nice bump initially but 3 years after the first price cut, 2 years after XL release and one year after 2DS release are people really holding off on purchasing these for a $30-50 price reduction when u coild easily find them at those prices over the holidays?

Good point about Nintendo needing to keep the price up for their bottom line. I do think a lot of people do hold off on buying things until it's "worth it", there's a lot of people that see a price of an item and don't really think of picking one up on the cheap for just the holidays. Those low prices aren't the larger percentage of them being sold either, the stores usually have a limited amount to sell. Those are usually door busters, I tried to get one for my youngest daughter, got there early, and they were gone, store only had 20 at that price. There's a lot of cheapskates, like me, who will only get one when the price is right. Just like the ps3, the base model was $500, but sold like crap, because people just can't pull the trigger for that kind of money... If the ps4 was $500 it would sell like the x1, I think, and it's problem would be that $100.... You must take into consideration too, the price of entry isn't just the cost of the machine.... A game, sometimes a me memory card... The cheaper the machine, the cheaper the total package, and those who wait for price drops, also have the luxury of getting great games at a bargain too. So that $170 base 3ds+a $40 game for $210, could be $120+$20 for $140, that's a huge difference. Anyway, again, good conversation! I love this! I am sorry for my wall of text tho.... I'll try to be better with paragraphs, I'm on my phone, sometimes I get too into just typing away, you know? Have a good night.

PS3 launch price is a bad example. Ur talking about $500-600 vs $170-200, thats literly 3 times as much. It more similar to when PS3 was $250-300 and people were talking about how it had yet to reach the $199 "sweet spot", well it has a $199 sku now and sales are down massively. There comes a point in a console/handhelds life where price cuts simply dont cause massive boosts outside of a few weeks and are meant to just slow down the decline.

For example if 360 had a price cut to $149 for the 4gb model and $199 for the 250gb/4gb+Kinect models would it cause sales to increase massively? Most likely it would just help reduce the YoY decline.

By the time 3DS reaches $99-119 ur probably looking at a 5 year old device with all its major software already released and a successor around the corner. The majority of people interested in it will have already purchased one. Of course there will still be people getting it as an impulse buy or for young kids just starting out gaming.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

3D World seems to be holding in pretty well despite the less than stellar WiiU sales.

Geeeezzz.. what´s happening with the XboxOne in Europe? Europeans do not seem pleased with it somehow.

Will this generation be a repetition of the PS2 era? It does seem so.PS4 is ruling the living room of home console owners. On the other side...ouch, Vita! Doing lower numbers than the WiiU is really problematic. It seems it is slowly dying in Europe and the USA.

Low week for the 3ds without any big launch, but still it manages to sell more than 100k units.

The main reason 360 did well compared to PS3 in Europe was the 1.5 year lead and the much lower price. One doesnt have those advantages so it makes sense why its doing so poorly.

The numbers aren't that different. One price drop can turn the tides.

Well, the PS4 sold 60% more units that in the 3DS in the regions it was released in.

I was talking about Xbox One and meant specifically in the US. My comment was extremely vague.

Good thing the world is much bigger than the US.

So, BestBuy lines pushed PS4 to only 9k more units?

Well, I was expecting more. It´s still surprising how US is in such a close race.

Or just waiting for adjustments... this is like the 4th week without any adjustment. Can´t trust VGChartz without adjustments.

Tomorow we will know a little more about their numbers.

PS: When does Sony financial quarter ends?

Also, released in 1/3 of countries or close to 1/2 market share, could be doing close to 30k if it was a "fair game".

PS: I´m starting to think that MS indeed had some prodution/distribuion problems last year. They could easily have put the price down and launch in more territories... but would they have more than 1mi units a month?

XB1 sales make WIi U sales seem tolerable :D
