Discless is the way to go. Can't wait till MS releases the discless machine
As a graphic designer, I just love to have a physical copy... but nowadays it is a shame that most publishers don't spend a dime on the booklets anymore :'( . So on this gen, unless is a game that I really want to play and collect, I'd buy it digital.
Gaming on:
PC:
Asus Z87-A | i7 4770K | MSI Radeon RX 480 Gaming X 8GB
G. Skill Ripjaws X Series 32 GB DDR3 2133 mhz | WD Blue 1TB SSD & WD Blue HDD 1TB
Consoles:
WiiU
Switch (Docked)
PS 3 / 4
Handhelds:
New 3ds XL
Switch (Portable Mode ;P )
It really depends on your tastes:
Digital:
Offers better loading times, convenient for storage purposes, can get much cheaper than physical during sales, you can't really lose it unless you get banned/hacked or something, no need for disc swapping. No disc wear/scratching.
Physical:
Can be resold for quite a good price (especially with Nintendo games) sometimes even making you a profit, able to lend the game to your friends/ play at their house, looks cool on your shelf/bragging rights, convenient for those with bad internet connection, redeemable rewards (Nintendo coins for example), that feeling of having a physical collection.
I personally go with physical, and every Nintendo gamer should do the same considering the huge benefits you get from it. I know I made an investment when I buy physical, and that it will perhaps gain value overtime. Just last February, I sold a sealed copy of Xenoblade for 180$ (I had 2), just to show how much one can make in less than a year... And it also helps local businesses survive I guess.

Depends. If it's a game or series I really care about, I'd like to have a physical version just for some odd sense of collection. If it's a game I'm buying on sale, or something I'm giving a shot because it might be good, or even a series that I like but I'm just not as passionate about, then digital's fine by me, especially if it's cheaper.

Definitely physical. The only games I'll be getting digital are those that are only available digitally and the PSN+ "freebies". Though going mainly digital is very tempting to hide the number of games I have from my wife and to stop her bitching at me to sell some of the games I've finished playing, as if they're worth some substantial amount. Still it is nice to be able to on-sell games when I want to.

PS Vita both.
Everything else physical

My primary gaming is done on PC, so digital is where it's at. If I get a physical copy, it's just going to have a piece of paper with a code. And better to not create too much plastic waste anyway :)

Pretty much what everyone else said. If I'm paying retail for a game then I sure as hell want the physical copy with the box art and manual.
