Nothing compelling to showcase at that price.
Only rich and very financially healthy companies advertise during the superbowl. I mean, a 30sec ad cost $4 million and the ad spots sell out months in advance.

Well they didn't have an ad during the Puppy Bowl either...

Did they advertise during it?

It is not worth it to advertise during the Super Bowl. Too expensive. Sony didn't advertise either. Microsoft had an awful commercial for no particular product.
Super Bowl commercials are overrated.
Switch Code: SW-7377-9189-3397 -- Nintendo Network ID: theRepublic -- Steam ID: theRepublic
Now Playing
Switch - Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
3DS - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Trilogy) (2005/2014)
Mobile - Yugioh Duel Links (2017)
Mobile - Super Mario Run (2017)
PC - Deep Rock Galactic (2020)
PC - Command & Conquer Remastered Collection (1995/1996/2020)
Is that really the best way to spend 4 million dollars? I mean, if you have a new product to launch, or something truly mass market like beer or doritos, then maybe. But for a video game company, I don't see the point. I don't recall seeing anything gaming related at the Superbowl.

There's 110 million people watching, and no other type of program comes near to matching its ratings. The second most watched event on TV after the SB in the US is The Oscars with 40 million viewers. There's a reason why the SB is so expensive for ad spots.
Would be a complete waste of money. No one watching the superbowl cares about Nintendo.
