Sales of the PS Vita have increased in the UK by 163% following the launch of the PlayStation 4 last year.

Undoubtedly the festive period will have played a factor, but Sony is partly attributing this to the release of the new console.

Fergal Gara, the MD of Sony UK & Ireland, told IGN, “There was a 163% uplift in PS Vita sales post PS4 launch.

“A significant number of PS Vita purchasers in the UK indicated that Remote Play was their reason for purchase, and we are subsequently seeing lots of these new PS Vita users connecting to PS4 with this feature.”

Earlier the week, Sony announced it would be bringing the redesigned Vita model, previously only available in Japan, to the UK on February 7th, 2014.

Isnt that boost more of a holiday boost ? We saw the same thing in the US.

Holiday was the reason of the increase. Its sad that Sony denial for the PS Vita. As a Vita owner, im pretty sad.

163% of 0 is 0

but remote play is gay when Nintendo does it. So why would it be any different if Sony does it lol.

Anyway ill go back to enjoying my VITA now as a handheld lol.

Really does look like the Slim announcement for the UK was actually a rush job because they're running out of OLED stock.

But isnt that the idea? To sell out all oled stock as soon as possible? You could get a oled vita for 129 euros these last few weeks.. If they were sold out you are out of luck..

Yes, but I mean, it's like it caught them by surprise or something. I would have expected a more "international" Western release. So I wonder if UK stock has suddenly sold through faster than expect.
