??? and what exactly is the difference between buying DD with or without a discdrive ????? my disc drive on my XBox one so far is just a dust entry point.... in a DD world the DRM is completely irrelevant... and even before it was also for 90% of the customer over the gen..... cause 90% of the gaming market and used game market is owned by major retailers that would have been licenced by MS anyway... that argument for the gazillion time was just BS based on principal not actual consumer habits....

you endimon no one is actually preventing you from NOT buying discs. Get DL codes or whatever and be merry.

Though I understand your reasoning for wanting to move on, discs will be with us for sometime yet. Internet speed/data caps are a problem, plus for many more casual gamers their main exposure to a lot of titles it seeing them on sales in stores. Add to this that it can be a disadvantage as digital-only creates a virtual monopoly, thus causing potentially higher prices due to a lack of competition.

Of course if you want digital then go ahead, but physical media has many years ahead of it yet


and what prevents you to buy a digital code in store ????

what prevents you to have DL station at retails where you come with a MS or Sony encripted catrige or even a external HDD with your gamer ID information on it to DL it there with high speed data transfer.... a digital world could go far beyond an internet connection only world.... this is just being narrow minded.... alternate solution to discs even in world without internet are very much possible and would even potentially generate more revenue to retailers.... smaller shelves space less shipping cost to absorb etc etc etc.....


Nothing, thing is discs are still important and still command the vast majority of market share. I'm looking at this more at an industry-wide perspective rather than either of our opinions, and until people stop buying them discs will continue to made

Also if you've gone all digital then fine, but why should other people have to follow your opinions? I agree this will happen eventually but I prefer discs and will continue to take that option whenever it becomes available - why not just have the choice?

Which is exactly what is happening... nothing points at only one SKU they didn't do it last gen... I don't think it'll change this gen

 

And on your preceding post about connection speed and data cap... this something I have a hard time to understand.... I lived for a decade in the US my sister is in the UK and in those country the communication emporium are absolutely scandalous.... I don't get why customers bitch against HW manufacturer going digital when they should be bitching against their internet providers enforcing unaceptable pricing and offers in our day and age.....

those are the real crooks in the story... I'm back in main land europe and I would never pay more than 40 bucks for a 10Mbits/s DL no data caps a landline with free nationwide communication to landlines and mobile and basic cable TV offer heck I even have a BD drive on my cable box. of course in a city not a 400 habitants town.... and I'm hopping to got to 100 Mbits if not 1Gbit in the next decade for the same price.... that's where customers should be bitching IMO

I think the reactions at E3 made it pretty clear what it is consumers want.

that's the thing the E3 audience is not the majority of 200 million potential gamers you have in that market

and even if it was it doesn't change the fact that beside principal it didn't represent what customer actually do in real life when it comes to customer habits.... so again for 90% of them this was pure BS on principale not on actual consumer habits whether they say otherwise is irrelevant beside pleasing an almost unexisting need outside of the mind of said customers.... and the sheeples followed behind like most of the time....

And yet... you do? You cant really disprove the results of a sample without a more representative sample. If you have a better representative sample then by all means i would love to see it.
