Forums - Nintendo - Reggie on Software droughts in 2014

january had the wiifitU, not that anyone remembers...

...it would seem, in my opinion, that nintendo is having a hard time developing for wiiU. a pretty large percentage of games have been hit by delays and the rate of releases is quite low even for nintendo.

Watch Dogs?

Best accounts say that doesn't come out until June/July.

Leaving jokes aside, I really want to know the release dates of Bayonetta 2 and X.

The reason why Nintendo is struggling to release relevant games constantly is that both Wii U and 3DS development require much more resources when compared the their predecessors.

If they want to continue their successful model which relied on string first party content and a few key third party titles they will have to grow a lot in the next few years.

OP is flawed, you're including crappy 3rd party games for 2013 but not including them for 2014. Where's the must-have Amazing Spiderman 2?

Regardless, the 2014 season is much better just for having DK and MK8. I will probably buy those, and wouldn't buy any of the other crap. Some people may even buy the Wii U for them.

"3rd party games don't matter". Whoever kept singing that should be mighty proud of themselves right about now. I'm not sure if any home console in history has ever had droughts this severe so early in its life. I really hope Nintendo gets their house in order. They need to, so disappointing.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

so about them third parties and new ip nintendo

Don't postpone my plan on buying a Wii U with DKCTF x}
Zelda U probably won't release before 2015 but an optimistic 2014 list could look like this:

January: Wii Fit U (retail) + F1 Race Stars: PUE (turned out right)
February: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
March: Wii Sports Club (retail)
April: Bayonetta 2
May: Mario Kart 8
June: Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
July: Yarn Yoshi
August: Super Smash Bros. 4
September: Hyrule Warriors
October: 3rd Sonic exclusive
November: "X"
December: New IP from Miyamoto
