  Very true.

I also like how the article is reporting Xbox One's shipped and the PS4's sold through, and acting as if they are the same thing.

as ioi said,.. "sold" is the right verbage to use on twitter because everyone knows the difference in context due to the high level of education and experience on the matter so no one in the media or public could possibly be duped and MS didn't at all take advantage of the situation to be intentionally deceptive to create FUD that makes it look like xbone isn't at all trailing the ps4.

..err,. i mean ioi is wrong.

Yeah I am totally sure EA doesn't know the difference between shipped and sold.

Who said anything about EA? it was gamezone that said that.

Gamezone knows the difference as well. See the hyperlink in the article where they say 3.9 million sold? Click on it.

And yet, the article writer proceeds to say "it's not a major difference". So maybe he doesn't know the difference between shipped and sold. And casual readers are probably not gonna click every hyperlink in an article, so they'll see "4.2M PS4s, 3.9M XBones, not a major difference" and think they are equal.

Remember the thread about Aaron Greenberg giving out the 3.9M number, and people called it out, and ioi said that he wasn't being misleading about the sold figure (although Greenberg said "sold" in the tweet)? Well, this is what happens. People are quoting the shipped figure, which is way higher than the sold figure, and it makes people think that the PS4 and XBone are on equal footing, currently

A bunch of stuff

Some words

So you must not be around gaming industry for too long.

I've just never seen the exclusivity of a title attacked like this before. Before the announcement that it would be only on X1/PC/360 for 'the lifetime of the title,' TONS of forumdwellers were like 'Yeah, we'll be getting Titanfall on PS4 by the end of the year.' As soon as it was definitively stated that wasn't the case, you start seeing stuff like this.

Who the hell cares. Some things are just exclusives. I get that a lot of people want to play this game. That's what quality exclusive titles are for: to make you want the console they are exclusive to. Everybody is just so caught up in this idea that they have to hate MS over their X1 unveiling that they are expressing really complicated emotions over this game's exclusivity.

It's ridiculous. You want to play it, but you don't want to buy an X1 just to play it, or maybe you sort of do and it's making you feel weird. Whatever. The point of a top-notch exclusive is to make you want to buy the console. It's why people buy Nintendo to play Smash, it's why people buy Sony to play tons of titles, and its why people buy Xbox to play Halo and Gears and whatever else.

It's just creepy the way some people are fixating on Titanfall and coming up with conspiracies. Just admit to yourselves you want to play it and if you are dead set against hating the Xbox, get it for PC. And if you don't want to play it, chillax and think about something else.

There IS NO CONSPIRACY. There's nothing to see here. A quality exclusive has been paid for by a rich console platform. Happened before. Will happen again.

The game looks very cool. But it is inspiring some weird as hell threads. (Beta conspiracy! EA made a bad prediction! Blah blah blickity blah!)

Craziness!

Right now, Titanfall's Xbox 1 version has about 25,000 more preorders than Infamous: Second Son, so it can't have been THAT stupid of an idea to make it exclusive to Xbox 1.

This. Well put, people are getting "wierd" about it and no this isn't like every other exclusive that ever came out like people are saying. If you want to play Titanfall buy an xbox or MAYBE just wait and get it for PS in the future.

Jokes on you, shows what kind of person I am dealing with. You disapoint me and aren't as capable of depth as I gave you the benefit of the doubt for.

There is no reasoning with your post it's pure nonsense and delusion.  Please post more people in the consoel war agree lol, how can you even prove that or even use it as an argument. As for the winning side,. that would be sony and it's first party doing it and wiunning the right way.

Your entire argument falls apart with the fact the 360 had near double the install base in  the US, and launched a year earlier thus higher sales..... Nothing to do with the now. Last gen is history PS4 is already ahead it's a lot different ballgame now.

Want to make a sig bet titanfall doesn't do gears numbers?

Actually it is rooted in comparable gen over gen comparisons with data from this very site. Quite the opposite of nonsense.......just saying that both PS and Xbox fans quoted me in the thread and agreed that MS simply paid EA and that is all there is too it.

My argument revolved around 360 being a 5 month old console compared to X1 being 5 months old in March.....I openly admitted that this gen will change in regards to sequels due to PS4's lead, but that there is potential in securing the 1st instalment.

I told you Gears opening numbers......and between X1, 360, and PC, offcourse they will be on par. But that wasn't my argument. Comparing it to 360's March 2006 games (Oblivion/GRAW) make more sense.

You aren't even paying attention as I have to repeat things to you. Sigh...

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Too bad every exclusive game that came out didn't have such scrutiny put to the process of how it became exclusive. Lucky for everyone, it is going to be available on PC. So all of these threads from Sony supporters hating on the deal are just a waste of time.

It is near the end of the end....

Welcome to VG Chartz, circa 2007-2008 when 360 fans just swore they were getting MGS4. Difference here, though, is that EA multiplats everything, all the time, and only recently was that a thing for Kojima to do.

I, personally, am in the camp that believes TF will end up on PS4 because there's precedent: like I said before, EA multiplats every game they make, and also no matter how much EA said ME2 (and ME1 for that matter) wasn't gonna be on PS, it ended up on PS. So I have no reasons to hate the game. I don't dislike Halo just because it's only on Xbox, for example, I think it's a great game. I also think, though, that TF is just CoD with mechs, but hey, I like CoD

EA going all in and backing the Xbox One was a mistake by the looks of things. Guess we will see what hapens in the future

Having Titan Fall for 360 and not PS3 and PS4 seems to be a mistake as well. If they wanted to go Xbox One and PC only, that would make more sense to me

Time will tell

Pointless last gen comparisons, Gears was not on the first xbox like titanfalls is also on 360, and did not launch on PC for a year later................ Titanfall won';t have near the impact gears did. GEars also had a great campaign and was a showcase for next gen graphics, not everyone is into fast paced MP.

Oh come on!!, to read that you need to click another link, that's the point. What matters is what you read in that article. If the author uses another article to explain the "3m sold" doesn't matter a bit, because most people that read the original article don't see the other. They just read "Since their release, the PS4 has sold 4.2 million consoles worldwide while the Xbox One sold 3.9 million.".

The author should have made the statement in both articles....If article A says a lie, but if in article B says a truth, doesn't change the fact A is wrong.

The points are.

It's not someone getting the information from a tweet and interpreting it wrong.

It's not a person who doesn't understand the difference between shipped and sold.

So it doesn't back up your points the other day or the conclusion that you were coming to.

However it is very curious why the guy wrote it that way when he cites his own article that says the numbers right. It's not like it's even in the title for clickbait.

Very wrong.  And it's not like Greenburg later tweeted, "Yes, it is shipped, but that is sold to us."  Nope, just said sold was the right terminology and left it at that.  He knows barely anyone in the general gaming crowd knows the difference, so this creates a false situation where they PS4 is only ~200K ahead, instead of the 1.2M+ (as of Jan 1st) reality.
