Forums - Gaming - Titanfall's exclusivity based on EA's Xbox and PlayStation sales forecast, not Xbox One's cloud

And the winner of all of this is Microsoft, who will probably make back the majority of their investment through Titanfall sales and new console purchases.

EA will probably lose a little, as they now have admitted that they underestimated PlayStation sales.

Respawn are the big losers, as they will now probably only get about half of the royalties they could have if the game was not exclusive.

Jokes on you, shows what kind of person I am dealing with. You disapoint me and aren't as capable of depth as I gave you the benefit of the doubt for.

There is no reasoning with your post it's pure nonsense and delusion.  Please post more people in the consoel war agree lol, how can you even prove that or even use it as an argument. As for the winning side,. that would be sony and it's first party doing it and wiunning the right way.

Your entire argument falls apart with the fact the 360 had near double the install base in  the US, and launched a year earlier thus higher sales..... Nothing to do with the now. Last gen is history PS4 is already ahead it's a lot different ballgame now.

Want to make a sig bet titanfall doesn't do gears numbers?

Actually it is rooted in comparable gen over gen comparisons with data from this very site. Quite the opposite of nonsense.......just saying that both PS and Xbox fans quoted me in the thread and agreed that MS simply paid EA and that is all there is too it.

My argument revolved around 360 being a 5 month old console compared to X1 being 5 months old in March.....I openly admitted that this gen will change in regards to sequels due to PS4's lead, but that there is potential in securing the 1st instalment.

I told you Gears opening numbers......and between X1, 360, and PC, offcourse they will be on par. But that wasn't my argument. Comparing it to 360's March 2006 games (Oblivion/GRAW) make more sense.

You aren't even paying attention as I have to repeat things to you. Sigh...

You should just bet the man if you're so confident that things will play out like the 360 era.  I mean the One definitely seems like its going to repeat the 360's success in EU this gen.

"Since their release, the PS4 has sold 4.2 million consoles worldwide while the Xbox One sold 3.9 million."

No, the PlayStation sold more than 4.2 million before December 28th, the Xbox sold 3.1 million in the same time period. This is what annoys me about Microsoft and "sneaky" press-releases in general. I imagine they deliberately released their shipped numbers so that news outlets would mistake them for the sold-through numbers. The same goes for Sony when they were bundling their sales figures. We all know the Vita is struggling, it is daft to hide that!

Also, back on point, didn't somebody from Respawn confirm it was only a timed-exclusive deal until Microsoft bought "lifetime exclusivity"?

Yeah I am totally sure EA doesn't know the difference between shipped and sold.

Who said anything about EA? it was gamezone that said that.

Gamezone knows the difference as well. See the hyperlink in the article where they say 3.9 million sold? Click on it.

And yet, the article writer proceeds to say "it's not a major difference". So maybe he doesn't know the difference between shipped and sold. And casual readers are probably not gonna click every hyperlink in an article, so they'll see "4.2M PS4s, 3.9M XBones, not a major difference" and think they are equal.

Remember the thread about Aaron Greenberg giving out the 3.9M number, and people called it out, and ioi said that he wasn't being misleading about the sold figure (although Greenberg said "sold" in the tweet)? Well, this is what happens. People are quoting the shipped figure, which is way higher than the sold figure, and it makes people think that the PS4 and XBone are on equal footing, currently

And yet if you actually click the link like the post you quoted says, you see he does know and even details the difference.

Maybe *gasp* he simply doesn't believe the difference is big? What is it in terms of units sold, a million or two?

It's hilarious how some of you who know the difference and understand these PR statements and executives remarks perfectly well, continue to fight the good fight "for the little guy" or whatever this nonsense is in regards to. I mean, does it really bother you that Reader 425 might read that article and think the consoles are "close" when they (in your opinion) aren't close? Who cares?

And does it bother you equally as terribly when a company like Sony releases PS2+PS3 numbers, or PSP+PSV numbers? I highly doubt many criticizing MS have an issue with that.

lol the very post you quoted said that I expect sequels after the 1st game will favour the PS4 with its instal base lead.

X1 and 360 are though very comparable at the 5 month period. Thus I will compare Titanfall to GRAW/Oblivion 360 numbers for comparison.

Oh come on... it's BS false reporting, using one sold and the others shipped numbers,, then saying sales are close, they clearly made it sound like the gap was a lot closer then it is. Bad reporting is bad.

For starters, what does your opinion on the quality of the reporting have to do with the fact that he understands the difference? Lastly, has Sony updated us with numbers beyond 4.2 million or whatever? Just curious.

I think I'm starting to fall for you. This could be a forbidden love between fans of different colors. They'll never accept our love but we don't need their permission!

Exactly. New studio like respawn cannot be happy with this.
