Forums - Gaming - Titanfall's exclusivity based on EA's Xbox and PlayStation sales forecast, not Xbox One's cloud

They were paid to bet on the wrong horse.

I hope that payoff was worth the lost sales they could have had on a larger audience.

I am confused... where exactly does the EA guy talk about sales forecasts?

He says he is talking about "where we thought both Xbox and PlayStation would be and that's what we based our decision on. I think we're still feeling very comfortable with that."

That could mean they were of the opinion that sales ratios would set a certain way. It could also mean that they felt that Microsoft's cloud focus (which they'd have been aware of years ago) was the best fit. The actual comments aren't specific at all, it is the article's author that has made an inference?

I wouldn't read too much into any statement at this point. Everything prior to this statement made about why it was exclusive has been a lie

Respawn said it was because of Cloud servers, but we've since learned Respawn didn't make the deal. Anyone willing to believe EA did it for teh cloudz???

Then it was this and that

Truth is Titan Fall and all other EA published games have a deal for Xbox One because EA heavily favored the DRM promised to be on Xbox One. They wanted the DRM to win

It had zero to do with cloud, Australia will not even be using the cloud because it's not ready there yet the game will be identical in australia as everywhere else. Notihng I hate more then companies flat out lying and treating people like idiots.

According to this logic next fifa has to be ps4 exclusive-

Your comments tells me you haven't gotten it.

I can't understand the bitterness from people that don't get to play this as it's a Microsoft exclusive. Weren't PS4 owners saying in another thread that they had no interest in the game as it was mp only?

Yes ms paid but if ea could only fund one console wouldn't it make sine to judge which console sells fps better which at the time was the 360

COD has been selling  almost equal on both consoles. The 360 was leading because of the type of gamer who jumped on the 360 from the start. Things will be a little different this gen.

EA favor MS for using the DRM on the Azure cloud, hence why they dropped the online passes. They thought MS would corner gamers for sure and do the work for them.If MS could get people to pay for online gaming EA was sure MS could pull off worse. When gamers turned on Microsoft EA stepped back and said essentially, "we're not with them". LOL....American business.

I still don't see why this is such a big deal. it's an exclusive deal with it. EA and Microsoft don't have to go into detail with fans on their financial plans with other companies all the time. Sometimes I think the gaming community feels to entitled to certain things.
