Well, it was obvious that they were going to make profit on the quarter with the Holiday sales.

Considering lots of stores have scaled back their Wii U sections, that seems close enough. Good job vgchartz yet again.

Agreed. Right now Nintendo has no case to be made to the retailers as to why they should carry more Wii U's. When Kart and Smash come out the stores will order more but right now it's pointless, not to mention that many retailers are now sitting on a pile of Xbox Ones as well. The Game Industry needs a jolt of AAA titles like Mario Kart and Halo.
So, no loss then? Und0med?

3DS sell through end of 2013 (Vgchartz)-42.21m
3DS shipments end of 2013 (Nintendo)-42.74m
Yep Vgchartz has it overtracked

They posted a profit a small profit in Q1 and Q2 as well. So is Q4 just going to have a massive loss due to the stock buyback. It's a risk for Nintendo but the payoff could be massive. If their sales really take off on Wii U, and 3DS keeps it rolling then the Stock could go through the roof, due to a shortage. If sales still don't pick up then Nintendo pretty much just ate a bunch of Stocks for no reason.

Brilliant. Seriously, Nintendo just told the world "Wii U sold like garbage and we are still running at an operating loss or small profit, just wait and see what happens when our AAA titles come out." |
No, Nintendo told everyone they would do horribly by end of Q4, and they still are saying the same thing. These are just Q3 results.
