Consider the fact that 99% of the people buying consoles have no idea that multiplatform Gears was even possible. Most people assumed it would always be an Xbox exlcusive... nothing has changed.

Halo and Titanfall might tip the scale though.

Dude...The Xbox has gone back to competitive heaven status. They've got Killer Instinct, Gears, the first game of Titanfall exclusive and they've got Halo coming ontop of another shooter from Black Tusk. Thats pretty much it. MS is MLG certified in America for this gen. It is definitely going to be the most competitive gaming console. Add the fact that they've got exclusive content in Madden and you've got yourself a winner in America.

This is what Xbox fans knew would happen. Just hang in there because this is only the start of whats to come. Xbox One right now is the system that has the best games out and the best games on the way.

Well I expect Sony to have better games in the long run because internally they are more creative. Its just that MS always beats them to the punch because they always pay for everything. When Microsoft cant pay away every single thing Sony will catch up where it counts. Thats exactly how it went down for the 360. Microsoft quickly established themselves as the competitive console and they had Gears and I jumped at the opportunity to get the 360. In 2009 I finally got a taste of what the PS3 had to offer.

Gears of war is not as big of a game as it used to be, in fact Gears of war judgement basically bombed. Microsoft is not winning NA just because they have Gears.

That wasnt made by Epic, that was a side project made by People Can Fly. There was no buzz for it either. Gears is still big. God of War sold like crap because it was rushed and it came out at the end of the gen. They both were in the same boat. Not enough marketing.

The next one is not being made by epic either.

The project director from the original Gear is coming to Microsoft as well. Yeah, it will be legitimate. I don't see what the problem is.

One guy does not a studio make, you cannot just slap a game or franchise like gears to any studio and expect it to be the same quality, making great games is a difficult task and massive project. Not saying it won;t but how often does a game change studios and it come out well? Not that often.

Black tusk were working on their own IP, having to take over someones elses work is not the same, you will not have the same passion as epic as it was their creation.. If you work on large projects in the workforce you would know what this is like. I cannot see everyone at BT being happy with having to take over someones elses established franchise.

HIndsight is 20/20.  I remembered seeing quite a bit of marketing for it.  If you preordered Judgement, you can get GOW 2 or 3 for free.  That was the only reason I preordered it because I hadn't played 3 yet at the time.  Then again, I don't know how one would quantify whether the marketing is enough or not.   I know I can't.

Also, PCF (now Epic Games Poland) is a fine developer who had worked on pervious GOW games as well.  So it's not like they're some crap studio.  Epic officially acquired them in the middle of last year.

To add, if you were unhappy with the Xbox 360 from 2009-2013, you may very well find unhappiness with the Xbox One

So with the 360, Microsoft has this plan of Halo, Gears, Forza, and early DLC for some games. Dead Rising 1 was console exclusive for some time. They release their console a year ahead of everyone else and... Still they find themselves in last place behind the Wii and PS3 (and the PS3 was horrible for a few years). Though they did well in North America

So Microsoft says to themselves "Lets do it all over again, the same way as before and hope for a different result". Also add Titanfall

And if Titanfall was available a few years ago, it would've been a 360 exclusive

Honestly for me, its disappointing to see the Xbox One handled exactly as the 360 has been for the last 4 years.

I was hoping that the Xbox One would be more like the actual Xbox 1 with games like KOTOR and what not. But sadly it's shooters and forza only atm

I don't see this as a game-changer by any means. MS had GOW exclusively last-gen. So this is just status quo. I don't know who will win the US market this-gen, but I expect it to be pretty even. MS had everything going for them last-gen. They came out a year earlier, they had the cheaper console, the easier system to develop for, and a ton of 1st and 3rd party exclusives. All that coupled with Sony doing just about everything wrong with the PS3's launch.

This gen, however, is a different story. They can't rely on Sony making those same mistakes this time around, which means their efforts need to be that much better to duplicate the dominance they had with the 360 in the US.

like others have said nothing has really changed since last gen form Microsoft so if it does win it is because of stuff it already had.

I see MS edging out Sony in N.America but it will be statistically close. Europe will probably be something like 30 to 70 in favor of Sony and Japan....... do I really need to say anything about Japan?

When is this new Gears Of War game going to be released? I think Sony will be sitting at around a 2.5 - 3 million lead in America by then.

And please don't make the mistake of quoting sales of a console in America readily available (X1) to a console that is struggling to meet demand (PS4). Once stock is sorted out and Americans get regular shipments of the PS4, it will start to pull away.

The PS5 Exists.
