I think you've misread me. I said "not many". I honestly dont believe we'll see the next Mario game pushing the Wii U to its max potential. I can see a Zelda or Metroid doing that and maybe X.

at 400$ nobody would buy. i think the situation would be pretty much the same. so they made the right decision going underpowered again.
No. Power is just one part of the equation. There a lot of other parts which leave me dissatisfied with Nintendo's recent consoles.
I might buy it if it has enough games, by which I mean "3rd Party Support", because Nintendo games alone aren't enough to get me to buy a console (unless it's a past-generation console).
I would but 95% of the xbox and Sony fans wont
PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850
I'd buy it under the following conditions
1. It has a fire emblem game
2. It gets 3rd party games especially WRPGs. Don't think there has ever been any on a ninty platform
3. It had a decent online system
4. I'm not forced to use a gimmicky controller
5. It is $500 or less
Seriously, if it met all those conditions, I will buy it in a heartbeat
"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)
"WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler
would nintendo develop games for this hypothetical machine that leverages the system's specs or would games still be developed with that "bare minimum effort to get by" philosophy nintendo has put into their recent efforts? Would it just be powerful or would it also have an API that is build with developers in mind so that 3rd parties can actually afford to port their games to the system? Would it include an online services that doesn't suck or would things like friend codes and digital purchases still tied to the hardware still exist? Would the blu-ray player play blu rays/dvds or would it be locked again because nintendo refuses to pay the $0.50 it would cost to make the console multi-functional?
No, why I would I buy a system based only on specs? Why would anyone buy a system for one game? Why do people assume that everyone will be all over a title simply because it's exclsuive (Bayo 2)? I honestly don't understand where this mentality is coming from, unless people are still on about the tired adage that all PS and Xbox customers are only looking at horsepower and don't care about software, features and other factors.
Instant buy. A perfect addition to my PS4 and PC.
