Forums - Gaming - What is your favorite genre of video games?

Mine is either fps or rpg. They are both good genres. It used to be platformer but there is no good platformers anymore except a select few.

Probably dungeon crawl/roguelike games.
Though platformers, RPGs and strategy games all interest me a lot as well.

i used to like platformers the most but now they dont really make em,so i like action/adventure the most

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

action/adventures and RPG's

If I had to rank them:

1. RPG

2. Platformer

3. Adventure

4. Sandbox

5. Simulation

JRPG's take the number one spot.
Next is whatever category (ratchet and clank and Uncharted falls into)
SRPG's

I really can hardly stand FPS story's. Only the online portion is tolerable. THe ones I've played just don't have compelling characters. EDIT: An honorable mention must go out to Quirky games such as Katamari, LocoRoco, FlOw, etc.

Definitely JRPG hands down. Love those games

2nd would probably be sandboxy type games like GTA

3rd, musical games

...

at my core i am an action gamer, but i love rpg's, adventures, and platformers. i dont like rts or fighting games. i consider smash to be a platforming fighter so im fine with it.

my pillars of gaming: kh, naughty dog, insomniac, ssb, gow, ff

i officially boycott boycotts.  crap.

Bioshock and Half Life 1&2 both have good stories.
