Funny, because in the last gen whenever Sony revealed numbers, everyone was quick to jump on them: "That's just X million consoles SHIPPED! Not SOLD THROUGH". And MS supposedly always gave sold through numbers.

Now MS gives shipped numbers, and all of a sudden, it doesn't matter anymore

Exactly. Shane was arguing that the number is shipped, but he still insisted on use of the word "sold"

He wouldn't have if he wanted us to think that there is no difference between the two.


Spot on. I challenged Aaron that the figure was SHIPPED. Aaron "corrected" me and said no, we've SOLD 3.9m Xbox Ones. Intentions are obvious, to spin the figure into people thinking 3.9m Xbox Ones are in the hands of customers.

The internet is so full of people on a horse. Except its not very high.

Always. Every financial report. Yes its microsofts financial report. They always include the numbers that affect their profit. Meaning aaron is 100% correct. Microsoft sold 3.9mill to retailer. Hence the profit figure they post in their report. Any idiot who thinks otherwise doesnt deserve to read the report.

They announced sold to customer a few weeks ago.

Theres nothing wrong with someone congratulating microsoft on their financial report figure. The guy who wades in hasnt got a clue. And he made himself look like a dick to anyone who understands business.

God the internet is hilarious at times.

I've been active on a lot of side projects lately but it seems obvious that these forums have become a little out of hand just lately. I've spotted at least 6-8 users (and you are on that list as well by the way, I haven't had chance to get around to you as yet) who are clearly on here to flame, wind people up and have absolutely no impartiality or logic when they discuss something. VGChartz is a place of neutral, productive, factual discussion - not just another cesspit of fanboyism and pointless, illogical discussions. When I built this site we had high standards and it looks like I'm going to have a lot of work to do to get us back there!

I'm beginning to think that you're not so neutral yourself. I always see you lashing out at Sony fans and now you say you're keeping a list of them? I never see you go into a deep discussion with someone like Kowenicki.

I'm beginning to understand why NeoGaf is banning anyone who mentions this site!!

FUD is not an opinion. You can't say in your opinion he said something misleading. It is a factual matter that he didn't.

Saddest part is most of us have followed sales and know exactly what these terms mean

I agree, might make sense why some users here get away with constant flame baiting and others get banned for saying a console is struggling. Nothing here was said that should cause that kind of aggrivation.

He and phil spenser are good example. Phil said, Xbox One is three times (later six times powerful) than xbox 360. The pawa of cloud, DRM, no DRM, free headset, no headset etc. These people are really terrible in PR. He doesnt even understand the difference between shipped and sold.

Wrong lol. If it was as simple as you are trying to make it they wouldn't have shipped needing a update. The consumers also needed a internet connection. It wasn't a flip of switch at all.

He said the hardware was built around DRM. Unless changes in the hardware occured, then he was lying. Why do you think he changed the description on his Twitter to "Working with the Xbox Team flipping switches since 2003 and tweeting since 2006"?

Obviously the DRM on the XBone was software based so a simple patch is capable of fixing it i.e. flipping a switch because the hardware itself was not built around it

Yes I can, in my opinion this is misleading. Question . Did you get your math homework done? Answer I did my homework last night. That answer is misleading if the it was english  homework and not math that was done. You see it can be factual but misleading. My opinoin of what he said was intended to mislead your opinion is he didnot try to mislead.
