Forums - Nintendo - Rumor:Wii U version of Watch Dogs cancelled?GameStop Italy AND USA say It was an error!

I would be very very sad if they cancelled Watch Dogs. It's on my top 5 "must have list" 2014, and I have no plans to buy a PS4 or XboxOne during the next 18 months.

However, it actually wouldn't surprise me if it was canceled, even if it's been in development for quit a while.

If they spent all the money developing it for Wii U just to cancel it now Ubisoft have to be pretty stupid.

It would seem that way. The userbase is also bigger than the PS4 which is the leading next-gen console.

I doubt this rumour but at the same time it won't be much of a shock if it's true.

Not really, by the time WD releases PS4 user base will be bigger add X1 to that and there is almost no need for a wiiu version.

Ok, ive just visited the official Watch dogs site and there for all to see very clearly is the lovely Wii U logo and box art. You can also pre order if you wish. That will be my official source of information regarding watch dogs for the forseeable future :D

Yeah, I did that too but wasn't sure if they just hadn't gotten around to updating the website yet. This happened with ..ah..that game.. ah..can't remember.

But I do agree with you.

I don't see it being cancelled. We all can debate how much the Wii U will sell this year, but what pretty much everyone is in agreement about is that Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Donkey Kong and all of their other titles coming out this year, are going to sell alot of consoles. I could see it being anywhere from 6.5 - 12.5 million, depending on if Nintendo makes some appealing bundles, markets well, and drops the price another $50, but the bottom line is that Ubisoft will have atleast 11 - 12 million Wii U owners to try and sell Watch Dogs to.

I dont think any one is in agreement that Kart smash Kong will sale lots of consoles.  Also if WD comes out by July, thers no chance Wiiu will be at 10/11m in sales.  Canning it after all this time might be a bit much,  but lets be real they dont expect and great sales numbers on the wiiu.  It be a succes at 10% which it will not do.  If you look at CoDghosts numbers, canning it might be a way to go.

Anyone that doesnt think that Kart,Smash, and Kong combined will sell alot of consoles is just being ridiculous.  Like I said it may only have a decent impact or they may have a huge impact, but regardless there is zero chance that those games come out and move nothing.  DK has been very consistant over the years and always sells 4.5 - 6 million.  The 3DS version being at 1.2 million, and being a straight port is really all I need to know, when it comes to its popularity.  There has been 6 years since Brawl was released, and when a franchise that sells huge numbers like Brawl did (12 million), and you take a very long break, the results can be ridiculously good. Brawl came out 6.5 years after Melee and sales went up 71 percent.   GTA just did the same thing.  The gap between IV and V was 5 years and V has already seen a 44 percent increase, and its not even close to being done selling yet.  Smash Bros 4 is going to be huge.   Mario Kart has the longest legs of any video game out there, and it should have come out at launch.  It's impact may not be felt instantly but it will be felt over the course of the next 12 months.   A bundle would be wise (looking at you Iwata)

I remember reading an article saying wii U version was going to be better than ps360, so if they got that far, why would they cancel it?

EA had Crysis 3 running. Canned.

That was EA, though. I would certainly hope Ubisoft doesn't display quite such self-spiting tendencies.

They delayed the completed Rayman Legends nine months to make it multiplat. Never forget.

Yer but that was because micrososft has a policy that if a game is released later on their system  it must be better with more content, so that oen was understandable.

Why would they cancel it when it was nearly ready for release last year?

nope.

I still have it for pre-order. Its fine. They've already built the game... even before PS360 version. At this point they are just fine-tuning whatever it is that they delayed it for.

That's not necessarily true and certainly doesn't apply to big third party games like Rayman.

By July alot can change.   Wii U is releasing Donkey Kong (very consistant 5 million seller), and Mario Kart (7 million seller at its worst), and who knows what else by the end of June.  PS4 is coming out with Infamous Second Son (Infamous 2 dropped to 1.6 million), Driveclub (If Forza/Gran Turismo can't sell, good luck with that) and a handful of games that will be on last gen consoles and the Xbox One.   PS4 had incredible launch demand, but there is a limit to that.  Maybe it will be at 6 million, 8 million, but at some point Sony will fufill its launch demand and will have to rely on its software to bring in console sales.  That being said Watch Dogs should release on Wii U, just because it cost Ubisoft a ton to make and they will need to try to pinch every dollar to turn a profit and those 350k Wii U sales could be the difference between loss and profit.  Corporations run on ridiculously small margins sometimes.

U said ill sale alot of consoles, ill be good if they can mainting wiiu sales any bump would be icing on the cake.

You need to get real.  Mele was on the GC, Brawl on the fast selling wii.  Expecting Smash to do anything great based on that makes no logical sense. I havent a clue why even mention GTA as there is no corrolation between 4 to 5 sales jump and the current Wiiu predicament.  Mario Kart was a pack on the wii and sill is to this day, i can get a MK wii bundle today.  What doe sit beign packe din with a massice succes wii say to its ability to revive a falling conosle ?  You base your expectations of way to much hopes, should add more realism to it.
