Forums - Gaming - Tomb Raider Definitive Edition runs at 60 FPS on PS4 (Xbone - 30FPS)

When both were supposed to be 1080p/30 I realy suspected that the PS4 version would have some small advantages in effects, details and textures, probably at the same level we saw in NFS: Rivals and NBA2K.

With the information we have I can suppose now the performance difference will be in line with the differece in hardware, 30 to 40% or 30-45 FPS vs 50-60 FPS.

Any way, unlocked frame rate is not a good thing either at 30fps or at 60fps.

Keep spinning MS fans, keep spinning, seriously what the hell?

PS4 average is 60

Xbox average is 30

THATS AVERAGES YOU NUTCASES, spinning it any other way is just pathetic.

AMENDMENT (24/01): There appears to be a little bit of confusion of the framerates reported, and the fault is our own and our poor wording. We inaccurately used the term “average” when the math, in reality, does not add up. Logistically saying the average is ~30fps implies it exceeds and dips below 30fps, averaging at the number. That is not the case. What our sources have reported is that the listed FPS are roughly the most common targets during performance. So while the Xbox One version can reach ~45fps, for a majority of play it will sit around the ~30fps market, give a few frames. Same goes for the PlayStation 4 build, which in most cases hits around 60fps, take a few frames. Our sources have not confirmed exactly, but our own extrapolation of the information suggests you might say the average (accurate use of the term) Xbox One performance could be ~35fps, meanwhile the average PlayStation 4 performance may be ~55fps. Actual, concrete performance benchmarks will need to wait until the game is out for everyone, as we certainly don’t have them.

We apologise for any confusion from misuse of the term “average”, and hope this amendment better clarifies performance on both systems.

So we actually wont know until DF do their awesome tests.

But 10-15 fps difference between Xb1 and PS4 on their first game on average is really good news for Xbox One fans that care about Power as the most important thing. Looks as devs start to get on top of the different architecture on The One that they pull it much closer to PS4.

Alright.  I respect the Xbox One owners who are fans of certain series that appear on Microsoft-only consoles.  I even see the point of view of those that feel bounded by their previous Gamerscore/Microsoft Points collection, no judgement here.  But I find it EXTREMELY irresponsible to sit on forums and argue the fact of multiplat specs differences are "close"/"marginal"/"not noticeable".  That's what you just did when you spinned this article into a "only 10-15fps difference"...*smh*

The propaganda from some of you Xbots are incredible.

Wait for DF. Im happy. Jus you be happy.

"Wait for DF"...for what?  Why is this such an issue to validate your Xbox One purchase?  Whatever the result from DF, what does "winning" the specs battle mean to you, and WHY?  Have you asked yourself that question, yet?

ok the PS4 version looks better, the real question is who's gonna buy this "port". Not worth $60 imo

Dat spin:

What detailed analysis did you get this from?? they said ps4 stays at 60 nearly all the time, dropping a small amount of time happens iun eveyr game, i'd wait for Digital foundry before posting baseless numbers like this. Mopst likely it's mainly 60-30 it fluctuating sometimes doesn't make it suddenly only a 10-15 fps drop difference, doesn't work that way. Talk about spinning numbers.

You said we need to wait then proclaim 10-15 fps difference, real consistency in your arguments I see.

I didnt make the numbers up. The site I posted it from is the site that started the numbers. They updated saying the average given was a mistake by them. Theres no spin, they started this whole thing. They updated to correct the situation. 30 fps is not an average, they messed that up. Its a minimum/market figure. But goes as high as 45. PS4 is the same. Average is not 60 fps. Its the maximum/market figure. It drops as low as 45. So its average is somewher between 45 & 60. Xbox One average between 30 - 45.

Thats why they updated their INCORRECT article.

And I was the one saying wait for DF.

But yeah Im very happy Xbox One with its architecture is much closer and still 1080p. Great times.

It's a last gen port..some games are mroe demanding then others.

Again, 95% of the time the fps will be 60, as the producer said, it it drops for a few seconds is irrelevant, it is still 30-60 on a last gen gen. What happens when the true next gen open world games like witcher 3 come out or watch dogs? Watch dogs dev said watch dogs will be betetr on Ps4 and the gap will widen.

The spinning is funny though lol.

Im not validating anything.

Sony has no games I want. That validates my decision.

All this oh ah over an unlocked framerate on both systems. DF will give people an accurate picture of how the framrate will fluctuate on both consoles. That is all. We know PS4 fluctuates down from 60. And Xbox One fluctuates up from 30. So the averages are somewhere above and below that.

DF will do the tests in time.

Either way, I dont want a PS4 and am not buying 1. So my money goes to Xbox One. Hence why I say its good to know theres not that much difference, and I still get to enjoy the features PS4 doesnt have that Xbox One does. Capiche?

Sorry, my friend, do you understando what "average" means?

Or are you claiming PS4 version can go beyound 60fps to make it for the unnavoidable drops to 50 or 40 fps?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

As I understand they both looks the same and PS4 performs better.

They could performance the same and PS4 had better image quality, but they decieded for the "gravy".

Just wait for Digital Foundry. Devs said GT6 was 60fps. But the framerate on that is as low as 38. And very up and down. So just wait. They are both unlocked framerates.

Could I have a link for Watchdogs Dev? Not calling you a liar, would just like you to show me, as havent read that. :)
