First of all, this thread is meant for fun and not to be taken so seriously. But I'll oblige you nonetheless.

1. Never said they're equal. They don't have to be equal. I also never named specific consoles, did I? Yes, the original post came from a Wii U vs. Vita thread, but this is an entirely different thread with a different subject. Therefore, there is no need to turn this into a Console A vs. Console B thread. But even if it was, let's get back to my original point that it's not about digital stores being equal in terms of sales, it's about the fact that every single modern console (counting handhelds as consoles, just to be clear) has a viable digital store that sales both indy and retail games, yet console detractors conveniently forget this when downlplaying a specific game's or consoles sales. And the fact is, we don't know the facts for the vast majority of digital sales, so just about discussion about sales numbers needs to come with an asterisk. Unless of course, it's a game or console you don't care for.

3. Ah, but you do see it? So you acknowledge it happens. I can't name names. That would get me banned.

4. I've addressed this in my last thread. I see this issue in political and sports journalism as well. The problem with anonymous sources is that people who aren't very credible or qualified to speak on a certain matter can get away with things they would have been called out on if they didn't have the veil of secrecy. You can't consider the biases and weigh the competence of a source if you don't know where it comes from. If you disagree with me on this, then so be it.

5. Fanboys making a big deal about which console is beating the others in total sales instead of looking at the financial bottom line.

You seem to have quite a bit of an obsession with people attacking Sony. Further research is require. 

I am a regular reader here but not a regular responder but I think this has got to be the most foolish thread I have ever seen in the couple of years I have been reading. Why in God's name do you all even come here if you are going to gripe about the community, every bit of this can be reversed because it is an OPINION what the numbers posted here mean (for the long term that is) so of course every one will not agree with you. Quit being babies and either do not post or do not complain.

Hm. Is it me or does irony escape some people? Let's be real. The entire OP is written based on a Ninty fan's perspective. So, I gotta ask: Are you forgetting about all the Ninty fans who do the exact same thing as you described? Or is it bad only when Sony fans do it?

Has any Ninty representative made a statement about overall digital sales? How many "big" games are released only as digital on WiiU? If memory serves, a Sony representative mentioned 60% digital sales (for Europe only?) and 10:1 attach ratio, which is nowhere near the numbers that VGC has.

How many times have Ninty fans said that Knack is only selling because of being bundled with ps4 and limited availability? Same with Killzone. And let's face it, based on several people's claims, many games do only sell because of bundles (many mentioned intention to trade in bundled games). I bought a ps2 with Gran Turismo 4 (or 5) and Tekken 5 (?). Could not care less about GT, but absolutely wanted Tekken. Point being, it's a valid argument. You can't say with certainty that people bought x console because of x bundled game alone. The rapid decline is sales of certain franchises (see Resistance 1 +2) are a clear indication of that.

Some times (NOT always), they do reveal more than official statements. PR guys are trained to make things look better than they are. Should we blindly trust anonymous sources and dismiss official ones? Absolutely not. Just take everything with a grain of salt. Hasn't it been proven that MS has been vague and suggested they sold more than they did? (Almost) anything is possible. Calling anonymous sources bogus without considering the possibility that they might be right is as bad believing anything and everything companies claim (apart maybe from financial statements of the fiscal year).

"5. Being the generational sales leader is more important than finding a successful long-term business model."

I think this is an oversimplification of the situation. Sony managed to be so successful with ps2 by bleeding money, something that Ninty avoided even when their home consoles were doing badly. Instead of losing customer faith, Sony did everything they could to turn things around with the ps3 and they succeeded, hence the success of ps4. People were satisfied for 3 generations straight, so they are sticking with Sony. ps3 might have been a commercial failure, but at the same time, it helped the ps brand tremendously. Simply looking at numbers of consoles sold and profits does not give the full picture.

I find this sometimes interesting and very informative. I've actually learned quite a bit from people who do it. If it's breaking the rules, people should be banned. If the mods don't ban them, then maybe they're not really derailing the thread.

I am by no means suggesting that Sony is perfect, juts pointing out that there are two sides of the story and unfortunately people cry foul when they do they exact same thing. I've noticed hypocrisy from all three fanbases' fans.

Just to make it clear, I'm not saying that you're not right. Just explaining the other side of the coin. Are you bothered when Ninty fans do that and make similar threads calling them out? As for me, never made a sales related thread and have defended both Ms and Ninty, despite gaming chiefly on ps consoles.

It really doesn't seem like a Nintendo-fan perspective to me. More of a joke that you are determined not to find funny.
